It is a systematic issue where the lack of equitable access to food and money and services you may take for granted lead to vast differences in the quality of life depending on where you live in the US, intergenerational wealth and unfortunately.....corporate interests which pervade the governmental entities in the US (which let's also make this clear....they almost always have very little interest in maintaining human rights)

We have other smaller organisations and that's it. I personally know people who had to go hungry even thought they were eligible to receive support, simply because they didn't get the money in time. While it's nice that Aly says such positive things about Germany, almost everyone here knows that while there are systems in THEORY to help people access food, there are MANY that fall through the cracks. The barriers to access that help include: - language (in many regions in Germany even English is challenging for the government workers) - the literal opening hours of the Amt (hope you never need government assistance on weekends or weekdays after 2PM) - understaffing, which makes it difficult to even reach anyone and long wait times for appointments or to hear back from anyone - bureaucratic hurdles and difficult to fill out forms (sorry, we couldn't work on your request, there is a mistake in your form. Fill it out again please and you'll hear back from us in six weeks... or six months.) Those hurdles immediately ensure that especially vulnerable people are shut out from receiving assistance.

Back in my "hard times" I did not even have to go to the "Tafel" (a german foodbank program) , where you get a complete bag full of mixed food for one symbolic Euro. It was not even necessary to go there, the money was enough to buy potatoes, eggs, veggies, seasonal fruits, flour, bread, pasta - and i had all day long time to prepare my meals. In fact i actually never lived healthier than in that time I have no idea how you manage to go hungry in Germany. Germany rather has a problem of obesity, especially in the lowest class where money purely comes from welfare. If you work, and you have low wage, there are more than 120 (!) USA has a better system for food security. EBT is superior because you get to shop at an actual grocery of your choice and shop with dignity as opposed to going to a food bank and being at the mercy of whatever they have available.

We have that too. You can get food stamps here that you can go to groceries stores of your choice with. You can't be cigarettes nor alcohol with it. On top of the 2€ luxury dumpster dive lol

In Germany, when you are on welfare, your rent is paid by government, and you get approx 500 Euro on top for your monthly expenses Only for food there is included, i quote : The standard amount for 2024 for a single, adult person results from: Food, drinks, luxury goods: 195.35 euros (34.7 percent) ...and all the other stuff (food banks or alike) come on top of that, in case you shouldnt be able to get along with the budget given to you. Tap water is drinkable and better than mineral water here, and nobody needs sodas or alike.

Those states, specifically the cities, have some of the most strictest gun laws. People always talk about America having a large number of gun deaths. If the total is from those major cities taken out, America wouldn't even crack the 100s.

You are fundamentally wrong in your assessment of what rights are. Rights are God given concepts. They are not physical items or commodities. Most people don’t understand that the 2nd Amendment doesn’t not state a right to have guns. The 2nd Amendment states and protects the right the keep and bare arms. That means swords and shields in 1000 AD, muskets and canons in 1791AD, and laser blasters in 3010AD. The problem with Constitutionally protecting the rights to physical items and commodities like food, clothing, and shelter, is that those things need to be created by someone. You do not just have those things innately like the Rights in the US Constitution. In order to provide physical items and commodities, the government must compel someone to make and provide them. It can do this by force, thus depriving that person of their own right to liberty which would be wrong. Normally however, it provides through taxation and the buying. The problem with this is that it wrecks supply and demand markets. The government must have what it needs to provide for the protected “right” so the demand is unwavering. However, supply is finite. You can only make as much as you can make with time and resources available. So with unwavering demand, prices go up. This is why government healthcare is so expensive. And the only way to combat it is to use force and institute price controls and then you’re denying liberty to the providers. There’s no way that doesn’t eventually involve government tyranny. To put this into the gun argument, if the 2nd amendment protected the right to have guns, the government would have to buy guns for every person. Because they must buy those extra guns for people who don’t have them, the demand goes up but the supply is unchanged and thus the prices go up. Nobody thinks this is a good idea. This is why the “right” in the 2nd amendment is your ability to keep and bare arms, but you need to get them yourself. The government doesn’t supply them for you. That’s why the German system is wrong and untenable in the long term.

That sounds a little bit like a scam to me. Like a promise that isn’t delivered on. And it sounds like Wortklauberei. And does god give the concepts to everyone? How do they decide? Are countries like Petri dishes and once they figure out what works best we all get the same „concepts“?

@@winterlinde5395 Those without freedom rarely know how enslaved they actually are. The short answer to your question is "yes", the God given rights that are protected in our Constitution are given to every man. In the US we have set up our government to protect those rights. In other countries they do not protect them, and many of them actively deny and attack them. That is what makes the United States different from other countries, especially European ones.
