Reading the Sega Visions blurb about this when I was 11 set my imagination on fire and I kept hoping it would eventually be released. It spawned a love of VR that lasts to this very day.

Good video, funny timing with the ending as Meta has just announced they are doing a VR headset with Xbox.

I’m digging the bluzy intro my man. I remember in the early 90s when Saga was advertising and talking VR headsets but, I never actually saw one for sale. What I’m waiting for in VR is to build things like a car and build it’s engine, motorcycles, planes, HVAC, lawnmower engines, computers, and so forth. And not cheesy builds but as close to real life as possible. But I think I’m the only one that wants that. It appears all others want VR solely for gaming.

You've got more subscribers than me! I don't use VR Chat. Always feels like an FBI honey pot in that place. But I'm always down for a game when I'm free. Edit: Looks like most of your content revolves around it. Meant no offense. I think I'm just too old for it. Those kids with their pokichus and pogs.

I think if they waited a few years and released this on the Saturn or Dreamcast (consoles that could run 3D games) this may have worked.

Dreamcast was outside my list of consoles. I was in-between the 64 and PS1, if I remember correctly. Was that thing as popular as these comments make it sound? I always thought it was kind of a failed system.

Yeah, It was kinda a commercial failure. It sold even less than the Saturn (which is saying something!). It does have a big cult following however and a lot of people love it (myself included).

good video, but wanting sega to come back even with just a standalone headset definitely isnt happening. late last year they canceled quite a few games and have started restructuring to be "sustainable". like in short if they didn't have Sonic and ATLUS they wouldn't still be around. I too agree with you that VR is being gatekept by just a few people and we need more people getting VR to the masses, but its not going to be Sega

Hey it's not like the specs of Forte VFX1 were all that far off of what SEGA could deliver. And it had its fans, it was interesting. I don't think SEGA hardware is coming back. It doesn't make sense. Xbox took that spot. Unless it can make itself a completely unique niche that cannot be covered by someone else. The one piece of hardware that would have made sense is a handheld Dreamcast with games from download store or encrypted SD-Cards, or even accessory GD-ROM that would dump the games with your console's unique key with a time limit that would have you re-verify that you own the game once in a while. The reason is that Dreamcast already as taped out in 1998 uniquely only needs about 6W for the complete system excluding the optical drive. Just 8 years down the line the same logic die-shrunk would consume less than 1W, planting it firmly in mobile territory. It could also receive enhancements such as more RAM as well as maybe higher clock rate mode to help port over more arcade games sharing the same fundamental hardware. Alas that didn't come out, and the time window for that had come and gone. We're probably going to get a Mini or Handheld but it'll be a generic Rockchip or Allwinner device with wonky software emulation covering a good handful titles.

I'm gonna give you the most generous reply I can to this. This lens doesn't zoom and I don't have the room to pull it further away. Working on getting a wider lens. Until then you're just meant to suffer.

You'd be surprised. It's hard to imagine everyone not coming up in the eighties and nineties, but my analytics shows that more than half my viewers are between 18 and 30.
