Isco’s resurgence at Real Betis is a reminder on why you can never write players off as finished even if they’re at the lowest points of their career. He’s had an up and down career, lots of promise at Malaga, he was balling at Real Madrid and he broke up the BBC trio with Zidane often benching Gareth Bale in favor of Isco in big games, he looked very good and played some of the best football of his career. He experienced a fall from grace in recent years as with Zinedine Zidane and Carlo Ancelotti returning to Real Madrid for a 2nd stint as managers, 2 coaches that trusted him a lot in the past saw him as a sporadic player and he didn’t play much and after his Sevilla contract got terminated, he was without a club for almost a year, it seemed like his best years were behind him and he was another one of those players who were facing away due to the diminishing role of the number 10 position in football, but at Real Betis he’s been cooking and has been one of the best players in La Liga this season and they signed him on a free last summer. The guy has been so good that recently, they gave him a contract extension until 2027 and he is showing us why the number 10 role isn’t dead and has redefined his role as a playmaker who’s more of a dribbler and on the ball is very elite and it’s great to see Isco enjoying his football again in 2024 and we’ve seen players get shocking international recalls who knows he might return to the Spain national team for the EUROs you never know.

My favorite midfielder growing up incredibly underrated and would always preform even when coming off the bench. That season where bale was injured helped show just how good this guy was I wish he would have been appreciated more at Madrid. He’s still got 1 more big move in him maybe to Italy or even atletico madrid
