Magnus, Robot Fighter! 🤗 I borrowed a compilation book of Magnus from the library once. And, Wow!, what a positive, optimistic outlook for the future it had! No dark, rainy, cyberpunk, Blade Runner filth and felonies! Just beautiful, clean cityscapes under blue skies and fluffy clouds! And, the people! All clean, capable, well-dressed and powerful! I wish society as a whole had that outlook again.

Being a comic book kid in the 70s, I remember 7-11 being my go-to for buying comics. They used to stock Gold Key on the very top and very bottom of the spinner rack, out of eye level. They didn't seem to get the respect that Marvel and DC did with the placement on said racks.

Same here 7-11 was the first place I started buying comics. I used to ride my bike to 7-11 get a comic or two and a Slurpy if I was lucky there was a collectible paper disc shaped trading card hidden on the underside of the Slurpy cup. Those were the days!

great video. I wish they would offer cute all-ages, cartoony stuff - minus the horror and occult (spirit guide). Perhaps some day. Wonderful cover!

I imagine they will do more cute all ages comics maybe without a ghost dog if that's not your cup of tea. Well see what they do next.

I was wondering how the resurrection of Gold Key came about, thanks for the summary. You were such an appropriate choice for a Gold Key cover and that wax pack cover is spot on!

That would be cool. The problem is that so many of the characters were sold off to other companies. I believe DC still owns most of the Charlton heroes.

I watched a documentary on Carl Barks last night who was a cartoonist for Gold Key Comics making Donald Duck, and how he created what is now Duck Tales. Barks' work directly influenced such artists as Osamu Tezuka (Astro Boy) and George Lucas as well as many others. With the kind of history Gold Key has, it good to see them back up and running. In my own work I'm past the 3/4th done mark and have just 42 pages of story boards left.

That's how Carl Barks got the reputation of being "the good duck artist" I'll have to seek out that documentery. keep kicking butt on the comic!
