The more I think about it, the more funny I find the irony in what started the X series. Dr. Light locks X away for 100 years because he was worried about him going berserk, only for Dr. Cain to find X 100 years later, try to make his own robots based on X (Reploids) and causes the very thing Dr. Light was trying to prevent. Again, the irony.

Honestly, I think the idea that "You can skip x2 to x3 and not miss anything" is more reserved for skipping x3 and going to x4. In x2 you learn sigma is a virus, you got the x-hunters, and you resurrect zero. What happens in x3? Nothing.

Some of the best touches of X4 include how X and Zero have wildly different intro stage music. Each song captures the characters really well. X’s song sounds very sad and conflicted, like how he feels about defeating mavericks. But still, it has a part that sounds heroic or determined, like how X will do what he must. Zero’s theme is just pure raw energy and badassery. Just sounds like a hero who just gets shot done. That’s totally Zero. I also like how some bosses have the Repliforce logo, and some have Sogma’s logo, on their life bars. It’s a nice touch that helps you see their loyalty and motivation. Dragoon being literally Akuma is also amazing

My video store had 1 copy and it was ALWAYS gone, and I went like every day and would ask them to check the return bin in case they hadn't reshelved it yet so, either my small town had so many kids that obsessively needed to play as Zero (not likely considering nobody at my school even knew about MegaMan) or somebody kept the copy and paid the fee for a lost/broken game because the game was already so rare and expensive back then

If you think about it, the military already reduces humans to a rank within a hierarchy of command as much as possible so a robotic mentality would totally be to simply design a program to run in a body named "Colonel" and "General" - since the lower the rank the more the more exists, they'd probably just use a Sergeant A1, Sergeant B2, etc. type system.

I'm pretty sure this is common knowledge by now, but X5 was meant to be the finale to the Mega Man X series. This is why Zero dies at the end of the game. He wasn't supposed to be resurrected, until Mega Man Zero, which takes place hundreds of years later. However, X6 would be made without Kenji Inafune's knowledge, causing retcons and plot holes. I know many people would prefer to have the series end at X5, but personally, I'm kind of glad they continued after that, because as bad as they are, X6 and X7 are interesting pieces of Mega Man's history. And without them, there would have been no X8, which was a return to form for the series, and some fans, including myself are still clamoring for an X9 to this day.

X5 had some of the biggest nostalgia moments and brought up a lot of questions. I remember getting to the Zero Space levels and when landing thinking that it looked like Quick Man's level, all it needs is the instant death lasers and then there they were. The questions that came from it, knowing that Wily had to somehow be involved but in what way? Hitting the boss room, seeing the blurred Wily logo, hearing the Megaman 1 Wily boss music then seeing those familiar cubes come in from the side. I remember the cold shiver I got at the realization that it meant Wily was still around somehow and was orchestrating all of this. Getting to the final Sigma form 2 boss and the revelations he drops of meeting a partner who hates X as much as him, who helped build him this new body that resembles Gamma from Megaman 3. I thought this was going to lead to Wily revealing himself as the main antagonist for future X games... But no, no... Just disappointment. No follow up aside from Isoc being implied to be Wily, nothing quite on the nose as X5. The story potential was huge, if only they went hard into it.

I like Keijei Inafune incorpated Vava and X's entertwining journey. Man just imagine if Capcom brought him back to complete the remake for all series leading up to MMX9. Maybe not completely. Capcom posted a tweet that mentioned "Master Eguchi and the rest of the developers" hope you'll buy legacy collection. Now to be fair, Eguchi did not work on legacy collection, he was known for Battle Network. But it was his idea to bring the Mega Man content to the failed Exoprimal game and even there, he mentioned that Capcom had approached him and the "Mega Man Team" for this collaboration. There are more and more signs that Eguchi who is not Inafune, but is a massive fan of Mega Man and more than likely has the keys to the franchise right now are working on something. That could be MM12, it could be X9 or it could be something incredibly different. Capcom polls showed that fans want Mega Man and the team knows it, so we will be getting something new from them, perhaps even several different projects. I'm not willing to give up hope just yet - signs of a new game in the franchise are starting to appear.

I am 41 years old. My first experience with Megaman was when I was a kid in the hospital and another kid had an NES with Mega Man 2 hooked to the hospital TV. I didn't get to play. My first experience playing a Mega Man game was MEGA MAN X on SNES. I played through the game and had a good time. I didn't touch another Mega Man game till The Mega Man Legacy collection went on steam sale 2 years ago. I bought Mega Man Legacy, Mega Man X legacy and Mega Man ZX legacy. I played through the games sequentially from 1 to 11 and then X1 to X8. HONESTLY, Mega Man 3 and Mega Man X3 may be my least favorites. Everyone else hates on X7, but despite anxiety playing the overly long boss battles, I was able to get enough tips online to make my first playthrough doable - and then I played through it seven more times to unlock everything. The only other Mega Man game I played through multiple times was X8. I mastered the game and played through it over 12 times to unlock every single thing. The prices are set ridiculously high. My LEAST favorite X game is probably X6 because playing through it is a chore. The game is poorly balanced and unfinished. X3 was boring to me but X6 is PAINFUL. I run it every now and then just to play the Boss rush and beat Sigma since the Shadow armor makes it easy, but I really think that obtaining the Shadow armor should be the main goal and the last level should be "easier" - essentially making Mega Man feel like NINJA GAIDEN. Great music, great visuals but terrible gameplay. ZX and ZX advent were really good by the way.

God I love x4 honestly my favorite in the X series. The ost upgrades from snes Zero playable it was done right yea the 90s voice acting was a crime but I wouldnt change it given that era its funny memes for a reason. But x5 onward thats a tough pill to swallow. The 3d era was rough til x8 and it needs to evolve even now if x9 were to come back.

You may be the first person I've ever heard say X2 was harder than X3 but it has been years since I've played either. X1-3 are my absolute favorites. My biggest gripe with X3 was the focus on vertical climbing. I think this was done to give you a reason to use the vertical air dash which I never did since its animation took forever lol. Now I'm going to go watch your Vesperia video and see how bad I want to fight you afterwards.

I guess I never noticed the verticality of x3 but I'll probably notice it next time I play now. A good! A Mega Man and Tales crossover fan, I didn't realize some of my audience overlapped 😎

In the absence of more new Megaman games, I would like to recommend something to you all. Look up a game called 30XX. Also, if you want a Metroid in between Metroids, look up A Robot Named FIGHT!. I hope both games keep you all sated until we get new official games for both series.❤

He went maverick because in x4 if you look at the animation if you play as zero it will show that zero has the wily virus. When sigma smashes zeros gem thingy zeros virus gets sent to sigma and i think that’s why he became a maverick.

I loved X. Probably 1 and 4 are my favorites. If they ever rebooted this series Capcom should look at games like Nier: Automata to update the combat system but still have that megaman x feel.

X was really good, X2 was even better, but I love X3. Maybe because it allowed me to switch to the badass Zero for the first time, or combine tmbecause it allowed me to use X with Zero’s Sabre for the first time. But what I remember most from that game was Tunnel Rhino’s theme.

Can you imagine a new open world Metroidvania style X game with the same pixel graphics where there are 8 biomes that you can travel to and fight the bosses at any time? I know the world select screen is a series staple, but I think open world would modernize it It could still have hidden Dr Light capsules/heart containers etc. Come on Capcom

I’m gonna be honest dude, a few of your criticisms towards X2 are you just needing to get good. You can dodge that attack from overdrive ostrich if you position yourself correctly, and you can get another bike by just backtracking a little bit. But yeah, X2 has its shortcomings.
