Great analysis Balaji! It totally makes sense. I also came across some New York articles critising India which was over exaggeration but realized it latter that they are doing it for the clicks.

You are right about NYT. They got caught for looking for only journalists who were anti-India and anti-Hindu.

Excellent analysis. I feel KZitemrs like Dhruv Rathee, Ravish Kumar, and Deshbhakht Akash Banerjee are using the same strategy as they have massive backing from the leftists/congres/AAP/Soros, etc.

Spot on about New York Times but I want to see data on the other side as well. What were Breitbart and Fox News saying around the same time? The birther issue literally gave rise to Donald Trump as a candidate

Mainstream media used all the wokeness to trigger the peoples feeling, whereas right doesn't have those megaphones, trump lived among Hollywood industry he used the same strategy which obama used against him.

Think that’s an overly simplistic explanation. Show us some data, he showed all those graphs about NYT which I agree with but where’s the same energy for right wing media? The right had Glenn beck, Alex jones and Bill O’Reilly spewing nonsense 24/7

No it didn't, maybe outside of a few cranks. Conservatives had many many serious attacks on Obama, no serious conservative commentators ever discussed it. Note he dropped it when campaign started. I'm sure left-wing media made it seem otherwise but that was an embarrassment not a plus for Trump.

Birther was started by Hillary Clinton. Trump gave it wings, Trump asked few legitimate questions and he saw how he was being attacked for it which is the whole reason he ran in the first place. Trump victory in 2016 is the greatest underdog victory and the most important one cos he exposed the deep state which controls the entire system from media to tech to government agencies to Hollywood to Military to entire DNC and parts of GOP. We need him back.

More people need to watch this. This is also what is happening in India with The Wire and The Hindu. Loss of readership and as revenue is being made up by political contributions directly or indirectly.

Balaji is grasping for straws I'll explain why- 1. Its similar to how the usage of words "dalit" spiked in Indian media after ambedkar's rise. A society becoming aware of an issue/phenomenon doesn't mean it was manufactured. Maybe people didn't realise it was that big of an issue before 2008. 2. The mentions of the word did not "STOP" after Biden was voted in. It is still more than twice as much as Obama's presidency. Trump's presidency has a spike because of George Floyd and other major incidences. 3. NYT revenue graph did not align with the wokism graph/Obama presidency. NYT revenue started rising with Trump. NYT sold more subscriptions than ever when Trump is in power so technically it is in their best interest to make sure Trump wins. Why are they doing the exact opposite then? Balaji is a tech VC. Why don't you ask him how he has profited from all this? And why is he chosing 2024 to switch sides? Does it have something to do with democrats proposing regulations and breaking of tech monopolies?

wokeness is a state of pseudo-enlightenment which involves viewing the world through a conflict lens and making performative acts of hypersensitivity to demonstrate solidarity with the "oppressed". It shows a disregard for facts, nuance and sustains itself by deplatforming, echo chambers, propoganda and mob tactics. It's just marxism repackaged, maybe from a cultural lens.
