Ep.19 Changing trends in K-tourism
According to the online travel platform Agoda, Korea was the nation with the largest number of people spending the Lunar New Year holiday abroad, among countries celebrating the new year on the Lunar calendar.
However, its tourism industry has not yet fully recovered to pre-pandemic levels. Countries around the world saw their tourism restore to 88 percent of pre-pandemic levels on average. But the rate for Korea was just 63 percent.
Some experts propose to develop tour programs tailored for different groups based on their age and nationality. On this week’s program, the Roundtable examines changing trends among foreign tourists and seeks ways to reinvigorate the Korean tourism industry.
