i lived in barcelona for a summer doing school in 2012. skating diagonal one night and this guy rolls up wearing a hoodie. first trick no warm up did fakie frontside half cab nose manny and i instantly knew it was him. we ended up talking for a while and he was talking about how jealous he was of what i was doing and that being pro is overrated. i told him school is overrated and i would so much rather be doing what hes doing. was a funny "grass is always greener" type moment. glad to hear he ended up going to school. was such a real guy and super friendly. could tell he was just super burnt out on skating, he seems a lot happier now im happy for him

100%. You can remove saying "like" a lot when you talk if you have confidence in yourself, read books and use critical thinking. Anyone can do it haha

Holy $Hi*.. Mark Suciu is definitely one of the best role model every modern skater should look up to! This is why education is still important kids 😅 but definitely my all time favorite skater to date! cheers on conquering that inner struggle! Skateboarding needs skaters like Mark to push skateboarding forward THE RIGHT WAY, we need more skaters who are a good balance of having to understand the industry and still hold true to the roots of skateboarding.. Skateboarding can't always be a primitive lifestyle forever, and it's not about being a sell out OR refusing money anymore, fu** it's 2018! Thanks for putting this up Route One!

preach on man. There is alot of great skateboarders out there thats been killing it and kids becoming pro so fast at a early age. But education is the key its all about how you present yourself to others i see kids these days not having a clue what skateboarding really stands for its not a lifestyle for ever it can only take you so far. It comes a time where everyone realize and become mature.

I identify so much with the way he answers questions. You can tell he's a very thoughtful, introspective person, so when he's asked a question, he doesn't just give a brain-dead, 5-word, skater response; he has so much to say on the topic - in his mind he understands all of the complexity and nuance and different perspectives, but it's hard to say all that in an interview with any kind of conciseness. So in the end you're just like, is anyone really going to understand what I just said and it's implications?

I might have put it in the wrong words yes, what I meant is that his way of speaking his mind is more diplomatic than what most skaters sound like. But again you don’t have to go to college to obtain that kind of vocabulary, all it takes is readind some books which Mark does so my statement is not correct.

I'm surprised to learn Mark is still so jazzed on literature... He has such an objective POV, I'd see him analyzing nonfiction, and scientific literature..... like I did in school :) I mean, thats where real objectivity lies.... analyzing Newton, or Paine, or Orwell's Letters rather than Beckett and Proust..... Beckett and Proust are rad and all..... but there's no application.... Its too post-modern... maybe he'd agree tho and Maybe I'll find him at LES one day, and BS with him about writers Philosophy Vs. Literature Seems like the best dude tho NYC, Hemmie

Although I agree that Beckett farted a massive amount of post-modern gibberish and conceited stupidity, I can't say that I agree on the implied bitterness towards Proust. Proust masterpiece - "À la recherche du temps perdu" - which is considered to be the longest novel in the french language, is a work of genius. Of course, he can spend ten pages on a single cup of tea, which may seem vain to the untrained poetic eye, but his writing slows down time in a world where an ever increasing rythm overwhelms the individual. I don't know why you finished your comment with this: "Philosophy vs Literature". What the fuck does that mean? There is no dualism between philosophy and literature; they both complement each other, like math and science. Wish you the best, Alcove, Québec. Jacques Léveiller
