I honestly rewatch this video a lot just to see the laptop Edit: yo! I haven’t bought one, but I think I can save up for it next year! I’ve been learning a lot of finance since it’s really fun for me, and as a sophomore in high school, I think I can get a job this summer, and consistently invest into my brokerage account. I’ve already deposited $1,500 in it which isn’t a whole lot but I’m only a sophomore. Just had to share whether it be with strangers that see this or a friend.

The shift key does not really bother me, what does is the gap between each keys. I'm typing around 80 whereas I would average 110 on a butterfly keyboard, just because the distance between each keys force me to click into the gaps.

Improvements I've personally noticed with the new blade vs last year's: >paint job is better. The aluminum feels smoother and more solid too >Screen seems brighter. Mine measures at 350 nits, last gen was under 300 >Keyboard is more tactile >Overall feels smoother, fan curve is optimized, cooling is much more consistent >Better quality control. I went through 8 2018 razer blades and still didn't get a fully functional one. Always had dim screens, clicking fans, stuck refresh rates. The 2019 blade I have now I got a good one on the first try.

"I feel like that people that know how to type properly don't use the right shift at all." (2:31) I don't know what you're referring to with "type properly", but if you're speaking of touch typing: When touch typing, the shift key gets heavily used, since a capital letter is achieved by pressing the letter key with the one and the shift key with the other hand. So for each letter on the left hand side of the keyboard, the right shift key gets used to make it uppercase. So I probably wouldn't get that laptop, just because I can see myself hitting up-arrow instead of shift all the time.

Using the right shift key is actually the correct way to type. You're supposed to use the shift key on the opposite hand of whichever key you're trying to shift. For example, the right shift key is ideal for ASDF while the left shift key is preferred for JKL:.

There's thermals when it's new and thermals after months of use when the garbage thermal paste job done at the factory starts wearing out... My 2017 Blade was fine when I first bought it, but had _insane_ overheating after only 8 months. I had to open it up and reapply the HORRIBLE thermal paste job done at the factory, thus voiding my warranty. This _must_ be taken into account by anyone considering a Razer laptop. That being said, after I applied fresh, quality thermal paste and under-volted the CPU, I achieved a 20-25 Celsius reduction and solved my overheating problem.

Returning Razer Advanced 15 (2019) RTX-2060 Reasons: First I want to let you know how much I love the Mercury White edition of this product. As a professional who wanted to use your product in an environment where a game centric design might be frowned on and the Mercury White was a perfect fit and didn't require me to get a skin for it. I wanted a system to use for content creation, coding, and some 3D / CAD work and this was prefect for those and the occasional gaming I might do. I will add that I would have purchased the RTX 2080 system if it was available in the Mercury White. Many forums and sites have comments regarding the their reluctance to purchase in the Black and Green design. I only mention this to hopefully allow Razer to expand their understanding of their customer's needs. Your systems are coming up often as not only great gaming systems but great systems for content creation, coding, 3D/CAD work as well. This demographic seems to be a bit more on the professional side and requires a system a bit more professional looking which the Mercury White it. Ok, why am I returning a system that I really liked? The system worked perfectly, ran cool, minimum fan noise, no coil whine, responsive, great size and form factor. Issues: --> The secondary keys are all backwards and do not match up to a standard English keyboard design. Take the < , key as an example. The comma is on the top of the greater than sign. This is backwards and as I was getting used to using this keyboard every time I looked at a key with a secondary function it confused me. I had my wife try it as well and she also found it confusing. We are both older and have been typing for years and are used to the English keyboard setup. And this leads me to the next issue on the keyboard. --> The Right Shift key is in the wrong place!! This is mentioned on every review of a Blade. I always use the Right Shift Key when typing. I kept hitting the up arrow key and sometimes would miss it and hit the Right Shift Key. I understand I can remap the Up Arrow key to function as the Right Shift key but there are times when I want to use the Up Arrow Key as an Up Arrow Key. --> Missing Home and End Keys. I can use the short cut with the arrow keys but for what I do Home and End keys make my life much easier. --> A quick key to turn off the trackpad would be useful. I use a Blue Tooth mouse and the trackpad would stay active while using it instead of turning off when a hard wired connection was made with a mouse. This would cause errors my typing and that is something I cannot afford. The ability to turn off the trackpad manually would help. I loved the system enough to try to work through the items above but the final reason is why the system was sent back. --> While typing my wrists would rest on the sharp angle of the base of the unit just to the left and right of the trackpad. After a short time my wrists were getting cut into by the 90 degree angle they were resting on. This is great clean look in the design but prevented me from being able to use the system. This is unfortunate as I really wanted to keep and use this system. Be aware you have to pay to send the system back. Cost to do so with insurance $60!

Would you take the Razer Blade 15 (RTX2060 + FHD 144Hz) or XPS 15 (4K or FHD) or the X1 Extreme (4K or FHD) ? I do photo editing and like to have good battery like 6+ hours when surfing

Hey Alain. I'm having the same dilemma as you do. If your primary focus is to do video editing definitely leave the Blade out of the equation. For battery life XPS (around 95watt battery) is the best option however the X1 charges incredibly quickly. X1s 4k monitor is slightly less saturated as XPSs and has marginally more accurste colors but the Gamma is a bit off. So it's really a tie. They both can have the 1050ti and the 8th gen i7. What I really love about the X1 is its amazing keyboard. They're two very similar laptops so in the end go with what your gut tells you.

Probably need to see both before knowing wich one to pick. The XPS 13 got some great upgrades, so may be the 15 one would be upgraded too til I finaly buy one new Laptop. For now i can live with my MBP 13 (non-Retina) from 2012 😅.

Okay so difference between 2060 and 2070mq is 100 bucks only. I know performance difference isn't much but we are paying that 100 for 2gb extra vram maybe for future proofing. I'm still deciding between 2060 and 2070mq... Any insight will help!

if you have the money then go for 2070mq. those extra performance is not bad and future driver update would make the performance even better. beside vram is very important in AAA title game now

In Singapore i believe they intentionally left the RTX 2060 Advanced version to only have 8th gen CPUs so that consumers who want the 9th gen Advanced must get the 2070 Max-Q and above

Dave, you've been mentioning that proper typists don't use the right shift much. The way I learned growing up with Mavis Beacon was to use the left shift for keys being pressed by the right hand, and right shift for left sife of keyboard. So both shift keys should be used in my experience.

This laptop overheats(like an oven under your keyboard) and has very bad quality control. Had to return twice; first time, the left speaker was muffled and second time; the computer is completely off(its like there's no battery). The third one I have now, to play it efficiently; had to use a cooler(below the laptop), fan(facing the back of the laptop) or like a sucker(which you place it on the left side and it sucks all the heat away). This actually stabilize the fps and prevent your fingers from being cooked.

I have the Mercury White RTX 2060 model and running FurMark GPU stress test for a number of minutes I had the following results in the Balanced Setting. Burn In Test: (2X MSAA) Time 3 mins + Settings - Dynamic Background, Burn-In, Post-FX - One Fur circle with shimmering background GPU Temp Max - 73c Avg FPS - 78 GPU Core - 930 to 1005MHz Burn In Test: (2X MSAA) Time 3 mins + Settings - Dynamic Background, Burn-In, Post-FX - Two Fur circles with shimmering background GPU Temp Max - 73c Avg FPS - 55 GPU Core - 960 to 1005MHz The Keyboard Keys get a bit warm but not bad. The part just above the Keyboard Keys gets to hot to touch but is not in an area you would touch. The palm rests are fine. Fans on are on high but they sound fine and much better than an Alienware m15 I had. The sound is not annoying and becomes background noise. Also note this is a stress test while running Netflix or general applications the unit was quite with little to new fan activity compared to the Alienware m15 I had. The battery life leaving Netflix running at 50% screen, Keyboard LED off, and sound lower (the sound is excellent and I have to turn it down or it is too loud for me) I got over 6 hours battery life.

I touch type. The right shot is messed up. When you type "properly," you're supposed to use the left Shift to shift keys on the right and right Shift to shift keys on the left, so that's actually bad design for anyone who touch types correctly.
