@@BafflingBS since this is my first supressor it was quite confusing what the RUM was until I figured out what the universal mounting system was. I'm still unsure if all other manufacturers universally threaded muzzle devices will work with the alaskan and RUM, but I'll have to do more research. This video helped a lot with pistol mounting options which I was also confused about

@@dlittle9556unfortunately, you’re pretty much stuck with Rugged’s proprietary muzzle devices, when using the R.U.M. You’d have to switch to another manufacturer’s HUB mount (1.375x24) to use their muzzle devices. If you’re going that route, I’d look at the Dead Air Keno mount. Mounting the Alaskan onto your rifles would be a rock solid, one hand attachment. Like a 3-lug for high pressure rifle rounds.

I really appreciate your support! Thank you very much! I’ve really learned a lot, since this purchase. You can literally go with ANY HUB compatible system. Meaning, anything with the inner thread pitch of 1.375x24. Really look hard at the Rearden system. It’s QD, lighter, less expensive, one hand operation and the taper is before the threads, which eliminates carbon lock.

Great Review a lot of insight Question as long as I have the universal cage I can use any 3 lug mount or exclusively use rugged’s 3 lug with spring. I have a Kaw Vally 3 lug mount for my omega 45k that I wanted to use to save some money
@BafflingBS
3 ай бұрын
If I understand your question correctly, you already have a SiCo 3 lug adapter and a Kaw Valey 3- lug muzzle device. Both the Rugged Obsidian and SilencerCo Omega share what’s called an Alpha mount. So yes, I believe your SiCo mount will thread into the cage. You just have to realize, that there are other 3 lug adapters, like YHM, that are Bravo mounts (HUB 1.375x24) the alpha mounts, are 1.125x28. That’s the inner thread pitch. As far as using the Alaskan 360 on high pressure rounds, I’ve switched my RUM to a Griffin taper mount, because I also have a Griffin Reece 5 mod 4 dedicated 5.56 suppressor. But, if I didn’t, I’d invest in all Reardon taper mounts. I really should do another video, because I would’ve saved a bunch of money on all of my Rugged muzzle devices, and the cage, for that matter. But, to address your original question, yes, they should work. If you haven’t already bought the cage, consider this instead. It completely replaces the RUM, so you don’t need the cage: www.joeboboutfitters.com/YHM-HD-3-Lug-Adapter-p/yhm-2050.htm

I was definitely disappointed when I got my Alaskan and realized that the rum was not actually compatible with 3 lug as is but I just ended up getting the M2 brakes because they're cheap when you register your can.

Yup! I’m a Paragon tier 2 member. 30% off definitely makes buying all of their accessories easier to swallow. I do know, though, if I was going to buy the ti version, I’d invest in the Dead Air Keno mounts and muzzle devices. Where the R.U.M. shines, is in the weight savings, being titanium. But, if your can is only 5-6oz. you could afford the extra weight of the Keno mounts.

@mikes8915 yes I think you can. you just need your serial# and upload a copy of your form 4. I waited until I had the can but I don't think you need to.

the only thing i dont like about the RUM is that i cant run it in an SBR where the barrel is inside the shroud due to no way to lock/unlock it easily....ill prob get a keymo for that unless there is an alternative. friend brought his keymo adapter and yesterday we confirmed it screws right into the alaskan so i can use their system too. watching your video i am wondering if a Fixed barrel spacer would work with the universal cage on my SBR 9mm where the barrel is inside of the handguard?
@BafflingBS

I think I understand what you’re saying here. My solution would either be the “spacer” (mount) or a shorter handrail, with the spacer being the least expensive option. With my Car-9, I’m fortunate enough, that I also own the Obsidian 9. Which fits inside my handrail. The Alaskan will not. You can also do what I did, and get the 3 lug mount and adapter. My point being, there’s a ton of options for you and I. Pick the least expensive that is also safe. But that cage is where the most options exist. Just remember, if you register your can, with Rugged, you get 30% off of their accessories.

@@BafflingBS But I think you're missing what I'm saying maybe I never mentioned it but I like the fact that I like the look of a suppressor that is just barely sticking out of a hand guard i'd like that look I Don't Know if there's a term for it but I Like It and so in order to be able to Do That I have to have something other than the rum

@@xphiles2345 I got ya, brother. For my PCC (9mm) my handguard is longer than my barrel as well. I use my 3-lug mount for that. YHM also makes a 3-lug adapter in the 1.375x24 (HUB) configuration, that will supposedly work with the Alaskan. The reasoning behind sticking with the Rugged accessories, is that you get 30% off, after you register your suppressor(s). But, I definitely get the Keno mount’s allure. The only reason I have so many Rugged accessories, is because I own the Obsidian, so the cage was a perfect solution for me. Oh, and the term you were looking for, is uncircumcised 😂

I love this, this video is literally what I was looking for because I am trying to decide on which one to get.. the Alaskan 360 or the obsidian 9. Any opinion on which one would be best if I'm gonna be using it on my pistols, PCC and .30cal and below rifles? I didn't want to end up spending so much on all the attachments but it seems like I won't have an option

Thank you, for your kind words! The Obsidian is restricted to lower pressure ammo, so if you want to use it for your rifles, you’ll be best served with the Alaskan 360. There are a ton of mounting options for HUB type suppressors. (1.375x24) Rest assured though, you do get a discount from rugged, after registering your suppressor with them. I know Yankee Hill makes some HUB mounts, like the pistol booster, etc. SilencerCo and Dead Air make some as well. I think the best mounting system, period, is the Dead Air Keymo mounts. This place supposedly makes all kinds of custom mounts and alterations: www.eccomachine.net The more I learn, the more I realize the world is much more broad with Rugged going with the universal 1.375x24 thread pitch. I really do appreciate you taking time to share the info! I will go ahead and order the alaskan 360 today and educate myself more on the mounting systems as you mentioned. I wish most of the suppressors are as simple as the YHM QD... or it probably is but the YHM is the first and only system I know. @@BafflingBS
