Thank you Dave for another great video! I am American so wasn't sure if this was a well known place over there or something so I was googling around about it and came across this blog www.goyt-valley.org.uk/buried-treasure/ with a picture of it before it was torn down alongside a cute story about a guy named Harold who ?possibly? stole treasure from the place, anyone else who is more interested in this place might find interesting as well since it talks about how things were in the 70s there which makes the video a fun kind of treasure hunt to map up with what the person on that article is talking about. It's kind of a shame that this place was destroyed as it was, it looks like it used to be a pretty gorgeous stone home but from what I am reading apparently they had to do it because of a river they were building or something? Quite unsure from what I am reading but it seems to be something like that. Thanks again for sharing a great video! You have no idea the peace these videos bring and how nice it is to get a glance at these places that I likely won't get a chance to visit as much as I would like to!

Yep all of that is quite right. The stone went into building a reservoir. Looking at the picture it was quite the grand house! Shame it all came down. Thanks for the link!

@@DavesWalks I obviously don't know their situation at the time I am sure they made the right call with what they had available but it seems such a sad call to make instead of finding another way to get stones for the reservoir, though I suppose in the UK's grand scheme of things this building is quite modern and therefor maybe doesn't hold as much historical value as it might to me! It's pretty ancient to my American view on historical buildings. Also of course, thank you for the video!

Thanks for the link to the background info. It reminds us it was once a contemporary place with real people living a real life there.

The atmosphere is much calmer in the morning, with less turbulence, less moisture in the air. In my opinion, mornings are much more special than afternoons/sunsets. Thank you for this relaxing experience and have a nice day! 😀

What an amazing place. For some reason, I'm particularly touched by it. It's a very melancholy site now, but you can't help but feel that it must have been a wonderful place to live. Thank you for this visit. Truly beautiful.

It's sad to see an old "escape to the country" estate and building fall into ruin like this. I wonder what it was like to live in a peaceful, hidden retreat in the valley back in the day? It makes for a facinating walk though, with the echoes of what used to be.
