They did came from America. The reasons were boringly banal. Introduced to France during WW1 as American troops landed with their own potatoes, and in WW2 Germany when American food aid made their way to postwar Germany. Buggers spreaded themselves to the rest of the continent within 15 years, albeit Sweden and Finland is too cold for the species to take root for now. Owing to the coloration, kolorady are also used as a slang term against Russian militants operating in Ukraine. You know, given their penchant to slap the St. George's ribbon on everything.

Meanwhile in Poland we have legends and theories about: 1) Bunker for communist authorities under Jasna Góra monastery in Częstochowa 2) Why that city being a religious capital was punished by communist officials and when a Warsaw-Katowice highway was built in the 70s it was built in the middle of a city instead of making a ring road around it. 3) Questionable cause of death of some politicians, most notably Andrzej Lepper 4) Golden Train hidden by Germans at the end of WW2 somewhere in Sudety mountains containing various stolen valuables 5) Białowieża forest wasn't given fully to Belarussian SSR after WW2 because Polish elites complained, where would they go hunting. 6) The origins of scar on Black Madonna painting in aforementioned monastery: being hit by a Swedish whip during the Deluge. 7) Our politician Janusz Korwin-Mikke being a Jewish cyborg under the name of Ozjasz Goldberg. Idk why Jewish, but cyborg, because during one recorded interview he put TEN teaspoons of sugar into a cup of tea and drank it with no problems. 8) 2010 plane catastrophe in Smolensk being an assasination on Polish elites. 9) Great Lechia ranging from the Urals to the Alps, battling against the Romans 10) Actual real horror of Łódź skinhunters - paramedics bribed by funeral homes to either delay their arrival to a patient or even straight up killing them with a medicine called Pavulon, so that they can advertise their services. There were only a couple of deaths confirmed, however more accurate estimate is with used doses of Pavulon, that is hundreds. This scandal has caused people to fear calling an ambulance for several years. Also thought, that Black Volga would be higher on the iceberg.
@Setarko
9 ай бұрын
Wow, cool list! Never heard about the Łódź skinhunters before, the case is WILD. The most well known of these in Russia are the 2010 plane theories (obviously). And I think the Golden Train thing was on one of the icebergs I used but I probably deleted it because it is not related to Russia technically. upd: I actually didn't. So the story about Golden Train will be there. Also, the Black Volga is on this level, just in the second part.

I remember the Blue Whale phenemonon as well, despite not being from Russia. In Turkey, it became a sensational news story, with hundreds of youtube videos copy pasting each other, our daytime crime programmes (basically all of them are programs of female presenters who solve cases of crimes that police probably does not care about, with most of the cases being old cases filled with lots of family drama and stuff. Müge Anlı is the most famous of those programs, with everyone having some relative, middle-ages/elderly housewife mainly, who watches her) talking about it for few weeks, and even Arka Sokaklar (a police tv series that is on air since 2006) having an episode about a game that was obviously taken from the Blue Whale stuff (though they tend to fill their episodes with crime news they find from the news, as it is hard to fill out two hours and half hour of runtime for every week). Of course, it is completely forgotten today, but just wanted to write what I know.

@MemoryOfTheAncestors

In Russia, it was in the mid-2010s, not the early 2000s. In addition, there is an assumption that this "game" as a phenomenon could have been first only discovered in Russia (as a social disease) and made widely public in media, as it was with the Spanish flu (which actually began to spread around the world not from Spain and only discovered there). Such wide publicity that forced law enforcement agencies to deal with this as a systemic phenomenon, and not just record everything as separate unrelated and unprovoked cases of tragic teenage deaths.
