I love every version of this game. Aintiriad has one of the best soundtrack of 80s. Thanks!!

One of my favorite games for the C64. Played it on datasette back in the days. The enemy design is awesome.

This came out in the states as "Rad Warrior". I had it on my CoCo Tandy computer as well. It caught my eye as soon as I saw it. From the Rock throwing to finding the suit, to the reactor, the memories of young me come flooding back. Thanks a lot for this special upload.

Yknow it only occurred to me MUCH later that this game had some similarities to Metroid. I got curious which came first and... both came out in '86. Crazy how similar (yet distinct) themes can be invented in two totally different places! Also I LOVE the music in Antiriad!

What a nifty little game! It's packed with atmosphere and reminds me of the _Metroid_ series. A shame it's so short.

It's short if you know where to go, but it takes time to explore the world to find out.

@@userdetails1 I really wish games like this let you randomize the world, then you would have to explore it again and get lost every time and get a chance to "play it the first time". I'm not knocking the game the way it is, but because I like it so much (I've never played it as I never had a C64) I wish that even if you knew where everything was, you'd still get an hour's worth of play from it. Incidentally, if there's a sequel that's just as cool as this, I'd be interested in that as well!

I remember having this game on my Commodore 64 in a compilation called HIT PAK. The game is hard, but awesome 😺👍🕹️.

This was also marketed in the US as Rad Warrior. The game did carry the comic book AL82 mentioned.

This has taken me ages to find. Antiriad was the very first (and last) game I ever played on a C64 and I've been trying to remember the name of it for ages. I could only think that the word was similar to 'Arkanoid', but it obviously wasn't that game! Anyway, very happy to have found it and will try finding it on an emulator now. Thanks for the video!

3:33 Ingame the suit is referred as Anti-Rad. So it's an anti-rad armour from Antiriad (also sacred)? Fun fact: This game is listed as the first to feature Richard Joseph's tunes.

I think the game came with a comic book which riffed on that Mad Max post apocalyptic thing where pre war tech gets kind of deified by remaining humans and "Anti-Rad" is misread as Antiriad.
@Kyntteri

@@AL82RetrogamingLongplays I was already doing crazy mental gymnastics, how the name Anti-Rad might have been seen as a bad decision at the time. Being "Rad" was all the rage in the 80's and name suggesting being anti-rad could have been interpreted as "uncool" or "lame" by the buyers and marketing decided to just add that i in there. Game was already made to the point where that text was left there as the title change came in later. But as you mentioned that comic, I went to see it myself and it's totally just misread as such. A tear in a paper was read as that letter i, but the letter spacing is also a bit off in the artwork so the mistake was on the other hand easy to make and I have now officially given way, way too many zhits about this detail. What can I say, slow day at work today :D

Why, why it gotta be "anti" riad? Why can't it be more open minded? Sheesh. Video game developers. I remember the DOS CGA version of this. That was terrible compared to this. Also nice work.
