You can't always bet on role players to perform like those guys did though, last year was basically an insanity. Bam really only played well in the finals. Jimmy went crazy in the Bucks series and then started slowly drifting off. And they made it to the finals, it was the role players through and through, that's 1 in a million situation and won't happen again anytime soon. Switching on in the playoffs isn't a real strategy, work harder and be more concentrated yes. But those guys went from 32% on their threes to 45% and almost kept it up until the Nuggets. It just boggles the mind, either those guys Gabe and Max and the others were really those dudes and Miami was stupid to let them go or this was the equivalant of winning the state lottery on the first time you ever bought one.
@b111x
Жыл бұрын
@@Lymbe06 Your first comment about relying on role players quite literally supports why Dame to Miami is a top tier addition. As for the rest of the stuff you said, multiple errors. 1, Bam averaged 18 and 10 while being the 2nd best defender that entire postseason run which resulted in Miami having the best defense in the playoffs. 2, Jimmy only slowed down due to his ankle injury in game 1 of round 2. 3, this was not at all a 1 in a million situation considering Miami has 3 East finals appearances and 2 finals appearances in the last 4 years. That is not only better than every East team, but that is better than EVERY team in the league. It is extremely likely Miami returns to the conference finals or finals next year even without Dame. 4, Miami was the 1 seed last year and lead the league in 3pt shooting. Now that they lead the playoffs in 3pt shooting too, that is no longer a fluke. Miami is just an outstanding shooting team.
@b111x
Жыл бұрын
@@Lymbe06 Lastly, it was not at all stupid to let Max Strus and Gabe walk. That is the casual narrative from people who rarely watch Miami until the conference finals or finals. Not only is Josh Richardson (the guy who was the best player on the Heat and the main piece used in the Jimmy trade) better than Gabe and Max ever were, but Miami has their literal replacements on their summer league roster. Miami’s player development has been easily the best in the league to the point that half Miami’s roster the last half decade has been made up of G-League players from their summer league.

In my opinion Dame has made a very serious error. If he wanted to go he should have done so 3-4 years ago. Demanding a trade now is pretty riskey now for several reasons. The biggest reason is his legacy in Portland which could have kept him employed by the Blazers for decades as a coach or assistant or other positions and the fan goodwill will be lost forever to the demand to be traded.. Dame really is just one injury away from being a mediocre player and that injury could happen tomorrow. Dame should have stayed the course and lived with the results of being loyal to the fans and the team that would have rewarded him long into the future regardless of injuries or player status. Dame unfortunately has listened to all the surrounding noise and caved to that noise and the resulting damage will never be undone..

You lost the plot in this video. In NBA history, there have been only 2 players Dame's height that have been able to lead a team to a championship. Steph and Zeek. That's it. It's exponentially hard for players of his size to carry a team to a title. They need to have the right system around them. Dame never had that in Portland. That great system is already established in Miami. What Miami lacked the most the last 2 seasons was someone who could say, "Give me the ball. I got this." Their offense has been their biggest downfall, and Dame more than makes up for that. They'll lose a bit defensively, but they already have a great defensive system in place, so the dip they take defensively will be overpowered by their offensive gain. They will undoubtedly be a favorite to win the East, alongside Milwaukee. Will it be enough to beat Denver? I don't know. Denver is a great team. But they would be in a much better position to, that's for sure.

You get it. I agree with everything you said about the fit with miami. I will add the fit along side butler as well. Butler has never been a guy who wants to just go out and get buckets, even though he can when needed to. Butler would rather spend his energy on other aspects of the game, the little things that helps win games. The guys around him offensively wont have to sacrifice much for dame's game because he is the exact guy they are looking for on that end. And they have the system that can help hide his defensive flaws, which he never had in portland. Honestly, this sounds like a video being made by someone who was never a fan of dame and now is finally the time to talk bad about him with everything going on, which i will agree is a bad look for him. The whole mentioning the 2014 team with LMA was weak. That was dame's second season, won the first round off his iconic shot and ended up losing to the eventual champions Spurs in the second round. Then LMA left. Using that tiny window as an argument to be like hey dame had talent, he should have won a ring is very nitpicky. The only 2 series where i felt disappointed with dame was that warriors series and pels one. I have given a lot of guys passes in the past for struggling against jrue, but man he was awful. I dont like the the nuggets series as an example that much even though he did shoot poorly. First off, they won that series. Secondly, CJ was cooking that series and Denver didnt seem to want to make adjustments to it. They continued to play as if they werent gonna let dame get going. He did what any leader should do there, he said OK and deferred. Pretty sure dame hit a huge 3 at the end of game 7 too, even if CJ was def the star of the 4th. The warriors series was a let down for sure for me, but i am also not gonna act like a warriors team without KD didnt win an NBA championship and win 73 games. They dont get fazed when they go down 18 points in a game, they have been there before. Sure, dame played poorly but CJ himself didnt play particularly well either. Never really felt like they were good enough to beat the warriors anyways, and def dont think they were good enough to beat toronto. very flawed team despite having talent. While i dont disagree with the overall point he is trying to make or how he went about it, i do think some fans overhpe him as a playoff performer due to a a few big shots. This just felt more like it was made from the heart.

You never know how many opportunities you're going to get to achieve the pinnacle of success in your sport. KD and Harden both spent 8 of their best years with one team. its way to far he is claiming he will be a hostile actor completely saying take a loss Portland if Miami does not want to make a decent trade. Something really broke down the promises made suddenly got turned to hard facts and he is now done with the situation unexpectedly. Can see good reason for his possible based on anger stance on leaving on his terms but this is to far. It is hard to impossible to protect both the team and the player the way contracts and rules for teams are construed. I could see an intervention possibly.

i don't understand this video, is dame a good or bad player? First you say that Miami can't give anything of worth for dame and then you say dame is a underperformer. In my opinion what happened to dame is unfair. I bet when dame signed the contract with the blazers they promised him a championship contenting team, and then they traded cj and started to rebuild. The reason I say this is because dame has continued to express his disinterest in rebuilding in many interviews since the end of the last season as he thought blazers would build a championship team by now. Also, if you didn't realise dame was waiting for a mutual agreement that the blazers organisation were to move on from him but they didn't and dame looked like the bad guy for requesting a trade. I think dame realised the lies this last season and had enough.

I agree with you except the series vs the Nugs in 2021. Dame was terrible in 2nd halves in the series. I the 2021 series vs the Nugs when they didnt have Murray and Barton, In game 2, Dame went 2-9 in the 2nd half. In game 3, he went 7-18 in the second half. In game 4, he went 1-10 in general. In game 6, he went 1-9 in the second half. Dame only played great in games 1 and 5. Other than that, I agree that, Dame underperforms in the playoffs and chokes in the clutch after the first round.

In general his help has been enough...but not enough for an undersized PG. Every 6"3 and under player that lead a team to a ring (zeke. Curry. Billups) Have all had a AT LEAST ONE Hall of fame teammate AND DPOY or all time defense...WITH a notable coach (kerr, chuck, etc). In their prime. Not ex all stars. Billups teammates didn't make all star in their title run but then 3 of them did the next season. I ONLY NAMED 3 LIL MAN CHAMPS SINCE 1980?? If u have a little franchise player u better be ready to stack up for him. If u count just the finals then u can add AI. Still only 4 lil guys. And only Billups//zeke didn't win regular season mvps but had maybe 2 of the 3 best defenses EVER Trae young might be the next dame. Donovan won't win a ring as THE guy.
