I had a kid who didn't believe in Santa, he had every reason to he's my foster son and he'd never had a Christmas, so I told him that sometimes Santa doesn't bring things that get unwrapped, sometimes he'll give you bravery, compassion, good friends, he bought it no questions asked and actually looked relieved that all those years Santa had been giving him gifts.

That is so wholesome. I love that. You are a great parent. I don’t have kids. But I always planned to dress up as Santa while putting out the presents from Santa on Christmas Eve, just in case the kids would sneak out in the middle of the night to catch a peek at Santa. I also want to learn how to do calligraphy to make out the gift tags that are from Santa, while gift tags from Mom and Dad are done in our own handwriting.

The little girl he speaks to on his 1st night as Santa was genius because when the year passes and he sees her again as a full-blown Santa, it shows a dramatic character shift in Scott from him being a jerk to him being a loving Santa. One of the neat details about this film is that if you notice all throughout the film after Scott returns from the North Pole in the beginning, you can see that some of the children present in some scenes have pointy ears, indicating that these are elves that are keeping tabs on Scott. You can see one of them in 17:49, the girl behind the boy in the classroom.

Fun Fact: There are actually many elves spread out through the movie, even before the original Santa 'dies'. The first one is the girl in pink during the opening credits, there's one in the Denny's scene, one in Charlie's class(he's also the only one not to laugh when Charlie says his dad is Santa(17:31)), and probably more throughout. Which also seems to be pretty good evidence for a theory that the whole thing was no accident and they were actually purposefully setting Scott up to become Santa.

When I was in high school, my cousin and I worked in the Santa booth at Lexington Mall. One evening, Santa called in sick, so we needed someone to fill in. After calling all of our friends, to no avail, I called my daddy. I asked him to check at his bank office for some underpaid teller who wanted some extra cash. Within the hour, my daddy suited up and became one of the best Santas the mall had ever seen. He stayed with us through the season. Even after I left home, he continued to play Santa in the mall, moving to Fayette Mall. Mom made him a beautiful velvet Santa suit and she made herself a Mrs. Claus outfit. Until the year before he died, my daddy played Santa for church, the Lion's Club, Rotary Club, and for friends and family. The photo is him with my first born. When someone asks if I believe in Santa, I say of course, he's my Daddy.

If you haven't seen it (probably have), the 1951 version of Scrooge with Alastair Sim and Kathleen Harrison is unbeatable. It's like a horror movie, but you have to watch the black and white version. It's the most spooky. It scared the hell out of me as a kid. I had nightmares from it, but it's so good. I remember seeing this when Home Improvement was big. Tim Allen was everywhere. Fun fact... when Jesus was on trial, the local Roman authority, Pontius Pilate, could see he didn't deserve death, despite the Jewish priests wanting him to die. But he wanted to avoid a revolt, so he gave them a choice. He showed them Barabas, a rapist and murderer who had already been sentenced to death. He told them they could choose who would go free to live among them: Jesus or Barabas. They demanded that Barabas be freed and Jesus die. And Tim Allen just called the head elf Barabas.

The Santa before Scott was probably old and had been at it for a while. If the same sort of thing happened with him like it had to Scott, then all the family, friends, loved ones, etc. have long since passed. Perhaps grandchildren and descendants remain but perhaps he'd been at it for 150-180 years and it was his time to pass the torch. If he wasn't Santa, he would've died long ago and so perhaps his avatar passed, his task on Earth fulfilled, and now it was time to be with his family. ... Maybe.... he foresaw it himself and he waved to Scott as his goodbye to this life and moving on to the afterlife.

Heating and storage tech is there but its cleaning out the device and keeping it clean afterwards which is the tricky part as you would probably have to use a shop vacuum in order to get all those crumbs out otherwise you could get a bug problem or worse. You also have to think about which should have a higher priority, a radio or dispensary. Honestly its all a bunch of trade offs. That is why santa has his radio in his hat as he doesn't have it in the sleigh.
