To finish up this series we have definitely the biggest surprise out of the AV yard in awhile. Here we have Rafael in the newest amrep in the Antelope Valley. In stark contrast to the very slow 107924 filmed by California Refuse 581, this truck is a total beast and was a lot of fun to watch. Sadly, this was all I got of him before he finished, but I did take a trip out to his regular route to get some footage of it on trash, and you will see that soon.
As for these 3 units, all 3 got given to Lancaster drivers and after seeing how slow 924 was, they definitely weren't a priority to me despite them really looking fantastic. One of the biggest changes with these trucks compared to our other units is that instead of having 4 tires on the rear axle, they have beefed up the current tires and only have two tires per axle now. The change apparently is not all that noticeable from a driver standpoint, although it has led to the three units getting nicknamed "Fat tire" by some of the drivers and us filmers. Not sure if other newer units employ this fat tire design, but it's definitely a big change in looks.
Big thanks to Rafael for letting me film and of course for coming in to finish the left over Friday route, hat tip to all three drivers I saw, however I know several more were at work.
