Hi! So about the vitamin D thing, as a (almost) doctor and as someone who has worked alongside doctors, i can say that we (in European countries) tend to stick to the Endocrine Society Recomendations of 1000-2000 Iu-s per day, for most people, simply because the RDA dosages of 400-600 IU/day are simply not enough to raise vitamin D levels adequately in real life settings. We believe that the RDA dosages are kinda old and way to generalized, therefore we prefer testing the levels of vit D and titrate an adequate dosage for pacients, maybe starting from 4000-5000 IU daily for a month or 2 if the person has a severe deficiency, retest, and then lowering to 1000-2000 daily to maintain optimal levels. There are way to many people deficient in vitamin D, and i’ve seen way to many with levels below 15 ng/ml and vitamin D deficiency is pretty bad, causing very unspecific symptoms and being very hard to think about as a diferential diagnosis. I’m not saying that everyone should take a bilion units everyday to reach super high levels and become immortal 😂, but correcting that deficiency will 100% improve one’s health. But as always, definitely work with a dr if you think u have a vit D deficiency and plan on taking more than 2000 IU daily for a very long time, so the dr can actually determine what is your personal adequate dosage !

@@JaneDoeowoI take 10,000 IU daily. I test myself every month to make sure my levels stay within the ideal range. And 10,000 is actually what I need to keep my levels stable. The reason I became interested in vitamin D was because I was having extreme difficulty sleeping even when I was exhausted, so I was willing to try anything that might help. I’m happy to say after being on vitamin D for a couple weeks my sleep issues fully resolved and have never returned (it’s been over a year now). And I’m sure it’s due to the vitamin D because at one point I stopped taking vitamin D for a week and my sleep issues returned until I got back on it.

Honestly there are three things at play here if I had to guess. If you get a degree but learn nothing about the modern scientific method (inference statistics, statistical learning, ...), you think you are educated but lack the actual education. Obviously a dangerous combination. If your studied field did not use the scientific method, it must use other methods to claim to identify the truth. And obviously that leads to problems if that method does not work (as general as the scientific method). Something I recognise in general is that people which have one unscientific belief are prone to introduce more such beliefs. All three apply for chiropractors with a "doctorate".

Must get tested to know levels, which is cheap and easy. Guess, don't test. Most of us who watch these doctors are doing so to fix what ails us. It may be necessary to take extra short term. About this whole scientology story, it caught my attention the sentence "he must be sponsored by this scientology organisation" when you can find pretty decent translators for a low-price fare. I don't know where you saw that he's a high up member of this scientology cult everyone's talking about like npcs, sorry but they do look like npcs, they accuse him of being in a human traff*ck*ng cult and then they don't even give the source of that, the only source is that guy "Ian rafalkoo" claiming that he's berg's son when he has given no proof or test or documents. I could literally go around the internet saying that Elon musk is my father and say he's this and that, that's what is happening here with that guy named Ian. there's no feasible evidence that points that he's his kid, and everyone's believing him for no reason. I honestly smell something funny here. I'd like you to "enlighten me" with proof of that, i genuinely want to know the truth. I entered this video because it surprised me that this "UnnaturalVegan, a.k.a moralist" is saying that berg's advices are dangerous when she's literally promoting seed oils consumption. Edit: by seed oils, i mean, cottonseed, canola and sunflower oil. The good guys here are: non-refined olive, coconut and avocado oil. (I don't know if i'm missing some oils. I put non-refined because there are some companies that refine these good oils and make them unhealthy, but that doesn't apply to the other oils. It doesn't matter if it's refined or not, they are dangerous in its most natural and pure form, and i mean seed oils not fruit oils like olive, coconut and avocado oil.) Years ago I would sit on the sidelines in some forums where some quite astute people would scrutinise and discuss the latest research. Then a few months later this latest research would become more mainstream and then after that Dr Berg would produce a video which was really the repackaging of what others had already said. I could almost predict his next video. His softly spoken voice always seemed contrived to me. Part of finding good advice is to eliminate inauthentic people. I had no idea he has alleged connections to scientology. It would be good if this was his undoing.

Seeing the vitamin D clip is insane, I had a severe D deficiency in high school and was told by my doctor to take 20000 IU a WEEK, and to only continue taking it while my levels were being monitored because having too much was so dangerous.

Wow, perfect timing. I literally just did a presentation for my college nutrition course (run by a chiropractor lmfao) all about dietary fats and blood lipids. It was my week to present, but another guy also got the same topic as me so he presented following after me. I honestly put my heart and soul into it, citing RCTs, giving descriptive examples of different sources, just overall having fun with it and providing the best information possible. I kid you not, the next guy starts up his slides and includes an Eric Berg video where he demonizes the crap out of seed oils and GMOs, then goes on to recommend lard and beef tallow simply because "nature made it that way." I had to hold myself together because my professor was sitting right next to me, but on the inside I was dying lol. The real kicker was the guy presenting said in the very next slide to stay away from saturated fat sources, and go for nuts, seeds, soy, etc.. Previous presentations haven't been much better; I don't think half my class actually cares which is both hilarious and depressing.

I had neck pain for more than a year. I tried every remedy I could think of for it, spending a lot of money to try and get relief. Nothing helped. Then I saw some of his videos about how gallbladder issues cause inflammation that presses on a nerve that will cause neck pain that travels down the right arm, which is what I was having. Since in the past a doctor had prescribed enzymes for digestive issues, I decided to try his gallbladder formula (which is a special formulation of enzymes). FOR ME IT WORKS!!! I am very happy that I no longer have that excruciating pain, as long as I take just one capsule after eating. I also follow his intermittent fasting (which is not hard to do since I normally never eat breakfast) and costs nothing. I am doing so well now that I work out 2 hours/day 3 days/week at my local fitness center (I am 70 years old). Your video is not helpful and is a rather ignorant ad hom attack. People need access to a wide range of KNOWLEDGE. He clearly researches extensively and shares it freely. It's up to PEOPLE to THINK CRITICALLY, use what they can use, and set the rest aside. He does not claim to be a medical doctor and frequently advises people to seek more information and testing from medical doctors. Everyone is different with different nutritional requirements. Ad hom attacks, such as included in this video, are not helpful. Point out truthful information, cite your sources of information, but leave out the lies, exaggeration, misrepresentation, etc. "Ad hominem (Latin for 'to the person'), short for argumentum ad hominem, refers to several types of arguments that are fallacious. Often nowadays this term refers to a rhetorical strategy where the speaker attacks the character, motive, or some other attribute of the person making an argument rather than the substance of the argument itself. This avoids genuine debate by creating a diversion often using a totally irrelevant, but often highly charged attribute of the opponent's character or background." (Wikipedia definition of ad hominem).

Holy crap, 20,000 IU per day was what I had to take for two weeks for a severe vitamin D deficiency because I had undiagnosed celiac disease for years. My normal dose to continue treating it is 400 IU a day. Seasonal deficiency is treated with a MUCH lower dose. I came across this guy when I was trying to figure out what to do with my diet when I was diagnosed with diabetes, and I remember thinking he was nuts.

@@theshunnedBandersnatch I mean, I have an autoimmune disease that causes it. It doesn't just happen on its own. Going gluten free is why my levels are back to normal on a low dose, because my intestines aren't constantly being damaged by my immune system anymore. If my doctor hadn't identified it as the cause, it probably wouldn't matter how much I was supplementing. It's not the only cause of malabsorption, so it's important to find out why it's happening first.

The issue with current science-based medicine is that science is often used arbitrarily to benefit the economic system. Many scientists and doctors have participated in studies that determine whether something is healthy or not, often influenced by economic interests. We have historical examples of this, such as when cigarettes were once considered permissible and Cocine. Additionally, modern medicine often fragments health, treating individual symptoms or diseases rather than viewing the body as an interconnected system. For instance, you might develop breast cancer because of a malfunctioning endocrine system, yet each issue is often treated separately rather than addressing the root cause. While I don't agree with Dr. Berg, I understand why people seek to address health issues from a metabolic perspective.

"modern medicine often fragments health, treating individual symptoms or diseases rather than viewing the body as an interconnected system" Modern medicine does view the body as a whole. The problem is, that it is so complex, that you often have to look at specific stuff or else you wouldn't get any meaningful information. Alternative medicine claims to view the body as a whole, but in fact does not do anything except spouting nonsense. If you want a best bet on any problem, go with modern medicine. If you want magic, go with something alternative.
