Clubman was an invention of the Klotz family and first hit shelves in the 1940s as a barbershop tonic. It is considered the quintessential barbershop fragrance here in the USA.

Thank you very much!!! This was a very good and interesting composition, as you see here in the comments would be the topic "scents of our fathers" much more varieties but with Pitralon, Aqua Velva, Brut,Hâttric, Proraso and much more a video review would surely last over an hour, maybe a good reason to make part 2 after some time? Everyone immediately notice that you really thought something historical to tell the background and thats make your revieuws so good! I am very happy that these varieties fortunately still exist and we can use sometimes the scents of our fathers. Good job Chris, very very cool revieuw. Gut gemacht Kumpel! And trying Brion seems me very interest now!

The Brut in Europe by Unilever is a different formulation than the Brut by Helen of Troy/Idelle Labs sold in the USA. There's a Brut Musk and a few others in Europe. The main Brut scent by Unilever is based on the weaker Brut 33 by Faberge. which came out in 1968. There was a fantastic Brut Dominant aftershave which was discontinued here in the USA a few years ago which some compared to Fahrenheit.

Ralon is actually closer to the old classic Pitralon than either the German, the Austrian or the Swiss Pitralon (all three are Pitralon, but very different from each other as well). Some even say it's the original formula.

Which one. Proraso Green which lasts a few minutes or the newer Proraso Red (sandalwood) which is a bit stronger? Both leave the face feeling great. I think you would enjoy their new cologne line. The Proraso Wood & Spice cologne is very strong and I like it alot. I haven't tried the Azurv Lime cologne or the Cypress and Vetiver yet.

What did your bathroom smell like after splashing all of those aftershaves around? My father always used Old Spice, and I still have a vintage bottle of Grey Flannel aftershave that I grabbed after my grandfather passed away.

Chris, can you add perfumers alcohol to EDT to make an after shave splash??
@scentland4753
5 жыл бұрын
no. after shaves usually include substances which make skin irritation more bearable after the shave and shoot the skin in general. Adding alcohol to an edt would only amp up the alcohol concentration of the liquid and cause massive burning sensations where applied.

Love your videos Chris. As a 20 year old guy from Australia I had Pinaud Clubman for a while but soon tired from its scent (not to mention everyone around me HATED! it) so I use Pour un Homme de Caron aftershave...love it! Finally, whats the story behind your bracelet? where did you get it? Looks similar to one I'v seen worn by Alain Delon. I really like it! Take care.
@scentland4753

Thanks Dylan and very good choice with that Caron. Well spotted in regards to the bracelet! I am an Alain Delon fan for over 30 years, so back in 2006 I purchased this bracelet from a french vendor online (ebay). Its the same elephant hair bracelet with a gold clasp that Delon still wears. Also Nicolas Sarközy, Michael Schumacher and Phil Collins used to wear it. But Alain still does. Its available if you make a search but there are only very few vendors who have the permission to work with this material. For example Albanu is one: www.albanu.mc/fr/collections/savane/bracelet-poil-elephant

I'm here in California and I've never come across Pinaud. But then I don't go to a regular barber anymore. And maybe I wasn't checking out the drugstore shelves where it'll likely be available. Btw, nothing from Spain's Puig?

Ed and Scentland - If you want to buy some Pinaud (and I have the entire line of aftershaves, their shaving soap, talcum powder, shampoo and styptic pencil), may I suggest this site. Peruse the three pages. It's hard to find more reasonable prices: atlantabarber.com/search.php?search_query=clubman&Search= Scentland, if you're ever in the states, place an order for delivery to your hotel the day or two before you leave for vacation. My favorite is Special Reserve, but they're all great. Lilac Vegetal takes some getting used to, though.

Yes. I only have Dinegro, and it is very vintage, it seems that it is hand made, and the balm too, the aroma is good, different. It is like traveling to the past. I could not guess which is this sweet and fresh aromatic note but it is interesting.
