Where I’m from, they always did this later in the night after everyone was completely sauced. Always made it more fun.. the faster it went... ah, memories!

I was taught the back must be straight. My Grandma, born 1880, did it with a bucket of water on her head. Never spilled a drop. Lol

The best ones were the blonde lady in the red jacket and the guy in the white shirt at 1:59. In Houston in the 70s, we danced this with a smoother movement and less hopping. Must have danced this and Cotton-Eyed Joe 200 times at least. Good exercise. I don't have the stamina I once had, but I wouldn't mind finding me another cowboy who could dance to country music like we did back then.

That lady and fella were the best. I couldn't help wondering how so many Texans didn't seem to know what they were doing! I learned this when I was a kid in central Texas. later I lived in Houston but those were were Hard Rock years. Still later I lived in Midland and Odessa and rediscovered my Country roots, and did many a Schottische and Cotton Eyed Joe. We were hoppers though...bout like the couple at 2:38.

@@billybareblu LOL! That couple still had it going on even with the hopping.

I was in Houston early 80s, danced Cotton Eyed Joe, followed by Schottische, countless times. We were better. 😂

Did you know that that flag isn't the Texas flag? It's the flag of Chile!

@@Squee_Dow You don't think people dance here in Chile? Until there is an emoji that extends that tiny blue square to a blue rectangle, I'm calling it the Lone Star. It's red, white and blue with a single star on the left in the blue. I have to work with what I have.

I didn't see the flag, except US flag. Too tired to watch entire video again. But seems like Texans would use the right Texas flag? @Squee_Dow

We danced it so much better at dance halls across Texas in the 80s.

Why are they not doing a simple shuffle step on the “B” part of the song? That’s the way we always did it back when Isaac Payton Sweat played it, after the Cotton Eyed Joe!

Only in Texas. Dress up like 1800s cotillion in the 21st century. FYI Schottische is a German folk dance, not the "Texas 2-step". 🤣🤣🤣🤣

They're not Texas two stepping. Texas has a large German and Czech population descended from immigrants from the 1800s. They brought their culture with them. The dances probably evolved a bit, but this is nothing like the Texas two step.
