Great video and space! It’s definitely time to upgrade the display. HDR is a must to get the most out of movies.

I was walking through the store today and saw several televisions in the six to seven hundred dollar range, 70" to 75" size. Upgrade time is here.

It's not just more achievable for us viewers but it's far more interesting... viewing a home theatre that's been built by the homeowner, compared to homeowner who has paid to have the work done for them! Just can't beat that personal touch. Congratulations on excellent home theatre set up 👍 (IMO you should keep the couch, it looks great plus it's also beneficial to feel other people's reactions, especially horror movies 😄) BTW, I also originally had my TV on top of the cabinet, which meant the centre channel was within the cabinet (angled up) but when I purchased a wall mounted TV, it gave me the opportunity of experimenting with placing the centre channel on top of the cabinet and when I realised just how much depth plus virtualisation the vocals had improved... well let's just say the centre channel was not going back withinside the cabinet!

Yeah, I go back and forth with this. The TV is on the stand because it is low enough that my line of sight while sitting falls dead center of the screen. I could raise it up and wall mount it, which would allow me to get the center channel up where it should be, but then I would be worried about compromising video quality. Not sure what the best move is....

@@mikeschramm yeah totally agree! For people who got a particular type of setups as ourselves, they usually comes a bit of a trade-off between their visuals and their sound quality, to be honest with you, we me now having my centre channel on top of the cabinet, it's kind of lost it's minimalistic appeal! If interested you can view this short 3-minute video... kzitem.info/news/bejne/2aya131rqoySaZw

@@totalplonker824 I just checked out your video, your room is fantastic! I like that your tv stand (not really a tv stand but I don't know what else to call it) is a little on the short side so you can get the best of both worlds. Your TV isn't too high and your center channel has room to breathe. Now maybe I need to redesign mine!

This was one of the most enjoyable videos I’ve seen regarding home theater. It looks so cozy. Please keep the couch over theater seats. Love this setup more than going to a retail movie theater.

Great video, love seeing a "normal setup" you know how most people have. I like seeing a space that a family can use. Black ceiling with gray walls and a few theater seats...no personality. Great room tour keep up the good work.

I have been planning to do the same with my ceiling tiles and ATMOS speakers!! They are currently wall mounted high. I have the EXACT same speakers and configuration as you with the exception of 2 PB1000s vs. your 2000PRO.

I considered wall mounting mine high per Auro-3D specs, but then I figured my receiver can't do Auro-3D anyway so I went with the Atmos route. I'm really happy with the results!

Great video. Sounds like you’re going to have more of these so I have a suggestion: discuss setup challenges and solutions and compromises. Eg this setup is open air on the left but close to a wall on the right - is there an impact on surround or atmos? Few of us have the perfect theater layout so these nuggets would be invaluable! Thanks !

Yeah, I don't get the bass that I want because of the layout of my basement. I have the two PB-2000 Pros, and they do the best they can, but its not exactly what I was hoping for. My room is to blame, not the subs. I could build a wall though....

That Atmos implementation is awesome! Will definitely use this! Any thoughts to go to a drop down projection screen?
@mikeschramm

Thanks Alvin! No, I don't think a drop down projection screen is in my future. I've had my heart set on an OLED for a few years now. My wife is a pretty hard no on a projection as well. I could maybe get her to agree to go ultra short throw, but more than likely I will get the largest OLED I can afford.

I'm not related to Mike but felt the need to comment since I rarely see anyone with the same last name and we both have a similar interest in home theater! Awesome setup! I've never seen anyone mount their Atmos speakers like that, I wonder how much of a difference it makes in the sound having them angled vs firing straight down like most ceiling speakers. Next upgrade should definitely be a bigger TV! Great job!

Thanks Scott! I did have my Atmos speakers firing straight down when I first put them up, and I definitely prefer them aimed at me vs. aimed at the floor. The sound is more “natural” for lack of a better term.

Hey guys, thanks for doing this Great job as always. Mike nice job I recently upgraded to a 77 Sony OLED I can’t express strongly enough what a difference it’s made I had a similar situation I had an Panasonic plasma the very last one they made 2013 I thought it looked great and it did but I’ve had a 4K player for some time and really wanted to watch my 4K Blu-rays and I had a friend who wanted to buy my television so I went ahead and spent the money and the difference the Dolby Vision and the 4K resolution The combination of the two just gives it this real Life look Best example I’m watching a movie and I’ll get a glimpse of a yellow car and instantly I know it’s a Volkswagen I didn’t see it good enough to see the shape to know it’s a Volkswagen but enough of the shape and the color in my mind I know it’s Yellow Volkswagen and sure enough when they show the car again it’s a yellow Volkswagen I do that all the time with different things the color is that accurate. Right now the 77” Sony 880j is $2799.00 which is 200 less than I paid for it and is the cheapest I’ve seen it that is a fantastic price if you could swing that go for it you’ll be a happy man have a great one.

The A80J is the exact TV I am looking at. I don't currently have the finances to go get it, but I'm hoping I will before they all sell out. And if I miss the bus I will go with this year's A80K. 77 inch, of course!
