Steps to complete your goals: 1. Define your goal as clearly and realistically as you can, and write it down. 2. Define small steps you can actually do every day, to eventually accomplish your goal, and write them all down. 3. Every time you make a small step, check it off of your written list of steps. 4. Revise your plan when needed. 5. When your list is about halfway checked off, go back to step 1 and write down a new goal that is dependant on the previous goal. and start the process again. If you feel overwhelmed, remember that you can always have many different goals, and take small steps towards each of them, with overlap.

do people seriously do "new year's resolutions"?
@ArchinaGM
8 жыл бұрын
+JSG It's an excuse for lazy people to try and start something they should have done a long time ago. They then realise that requires doing work they don't want to do and lose motivation (Hence why gym memberships tend to last for only a few weeks before going unused.)
@smores109

+JSG Of course. Lots of people set their goals too high though, so they give up really quickly. I like to pick something simple that's easier to stick with. Like, instead of resolving to become a master of drawing, just resolve to draw a little bit every day.

+JSG apparently, yes. But why don't just set a goal, when you think about achieving it? Because a new year, week or a certain day is treated as a motivator by them, but it prevents them to achieve the goal by not just doing it. It's actually an excuse for not doing it now, so you're better off doing it now or not. Just my two cents :)

New Year's resolutions are basically the same as a certain day from that on you start doing something, but didn't want to do it before, because you haven't got enough motivation for doing it immediately and set a date that makes up the motivation by thinking something like "leaving everything I've done wrong in the past year behind". Then they are often setting the goals too high, similar to the other extreme of doing something wrong like drinking the large soda and then eating the large ice cream. The problem here is not ACCEPTING MISTAKES, cause reality is different than our imagination and we are always doing mistakes so that we can improve. I think every individual is perfect; it's just our beliefs and expectations that lead us to think that we are not perfect, because we do mistakes. But that actually is a property that makes us perfect, cause we learn from it.

Although people are sophisticated, big-headed in their "knowledge and learning," versed in contemporary manners, and in new ways of relating one to another, basically, people all those years ago were the same as ourselves. They were controlled and motivated entirely by their TWIN IMPULSES of human nature: Bonding-Rejection Desires-Repulsions even as we are. They loved, hated, criticized, condemned, slandered, gossiped, possessed ambitions to rise to the top of society, despised those who were failures in life, slept around and taunted those who were different in any way to themselves.

1 - Whether you’re trying to lose 20 pounds, get that promotion at work or quit smoking, sticking to your goal isn’t an easy task. After all, 45% of people drop their New Year’s Resolutions after a month. So why is it so difficult to keep motivated and how can science help us achieve what we’re after? 2 - In one MIT study, students were given two types of tasks. In the first, they had to hit two keys on a keyboard as many times as possible in four minutes and those that did it the fastest would receive money. For some, the reward was $300 while for others only $30. 3 - Interestingly, performance was 95% greater in the high $300 group, highlighting how money can be a motivator. But in the second task, the same students were asked to solve a more complex math problem and this time, those offered the high reward performed 32% slower than the small reward group.
