I'm 74 y/o and will NEVER have a homestead and all that goes with it. What I love to hear is the problem solving that both Jess & Miah share. I like cows...Hope has a gorgeous face. Do I care about fly spray, milk production, kick bars, NO! not in the least. I like watching two incredibly kind people show others how it is done with kindness and caring. I love your respect for your animals; if it was missing, I would be too! thanks again for sharing!

I'm a disabled elderly widow who lives vicariously through the lens into your world. I listen intently to every word you share & dream of being able to follow through with the same success you always manage to bring to fruition!!! I grew up on a farm & allowed society to convince me that I deserved better. In retrospect, I had it all & just didn't understand & I chose to throw it away!!! Not that it matters...IMHO you are making the correct & logical decision!!!

You’re farm is evolving into the farm I grew up on. We had cows and cows came and went for various reasons. Having a KZitem channel that exposes farm life to all walks of life has pros and cons. Farms are rarely “forever homes” for livestock. Of course there are exceptions, but those are just that…exceptions. It’s unfortunate that so many people are so far removed from how farms work that distorted views form regularly. I have a few roosters that we are letting them “retire and live out their lives” but for the most part, if an animal isn’t pulling their own weight, not producing or just not a good fit for your operation, then passing them on or harvesting them IS the most humane thing to do. I think people have developed a warped sense of what it takes to care for animals from short “rescue” videos, like the ones featured on the Dodo. I love those stories, however I know what it takes to care for animals and how temperament is so important. You don’t see all the struggles and expenses that are incurred in these “feel good” stories and that creates a false sense of what it takes. I would try the girls with Bo and see what happens! The heat is wrecking a lot of plans this summer. Can’t wait to meet the new girls!

And today's story time is - All About Cows! Thank You Jess! I did make it all the way through. It wasn't hard! I don't live on a farm. I probably never will live on a farm. I don't aspire to have milk cows, although, I would very much like the butter! However, what I do like to do is listen and watch you and your entire family over there on that farm filled with deep green colored grass, and covered with skies of the most gorgeous blue! It's all so picture perfect! (Yall are FOR SURE "Grass Rich" now!!) Not to mention that gorgeous show of elephant ears in the background at the end!! Today may have been a lot of information for you to "get out". But for me- It was story time with Jess. ❤️ I thoroughly enjoyed it!!

You respect your animals and take good care of them and that is a great life lesson for us all. I love that you educate us.... the milk, cheese & cream will not magically show up in the fridge because we get a dairy cow. It's a commitment that will need to be done every day by someone. I understand that keeping livestock means sometimes selling them. When I kept a few beef cows, I considered it a stewardship, and a sacred obligation to keep them in the best way I could, clean, comfortable, and with a healthy environment. Hearing you say basically the same resonated with me, just as briefly skimming over sales barns evoked some sad memories of the conditions other livestock endures. I believe that you are holding yourself to the highest standard of care for your animals, far higher than many small farmers do.
