Saw the very,very last Searchers show at The Stables at Wavendon on Sunday 31 March 2019 Still a brilliant live band with a superb catalogue of tunes both of their own and other artists that jointly made up a very sad but unforgettable night. Thank you the Searchers who have played in the band over the years and to those who played their part over recent years especially the 2 stalwarts John McNally and Frank Allen. A full house on Sunday that included quite a few 'youngsters' who bopped their way through the evening to prove that the Searchers fans aren't all baby boomers. Thank you Searchers for givng me music to grow up to and to also grow old with. Bob Jackson

These guys look fit and sound fantastic for a band that was 59 years old at this time, and I'm sure their final show was fantastic. The quality of the video isn't great, but good enough to watch all the way through - so a big thanks for posting!

One of the greatest 60s bands ever ! So sad they are calling it a day in 2019 but time stops for nobody ! I will be there at Whitley bay in 2019 to say goodbye ! Wouldn't it be great if for the last tour if the original line up " or as close as you can could appear " Mike pender & co I mean ! Could join forces & give the fans what they really want ! Just a thought ! Ps my favourate song is every time you walk in the room !

@Mark Ehrlich When we last saw The Searchers on their farewell tour we spoke to Spencer andhe said he was going solo as the voice of The Searchers. Hope he does well. the old Dr Hook voice John lecarie does well enough so hope Spencer does too.

Paul, I absolutely agree, the fans want to hear it like they heard it all those years ago. That other bunch, the Seekers, never changed anything, and were fabulous up the the last performance, despite Judith sadly failing just a tiny bit. Don Everly would always want to do songs differently, making it hard work for Phil to follow him (though he somehow did), and though they remained great, it tends to disappoint me to hear the songs keep coming out a bit different. It's OK for jazz, I suppose.

Some people have to lower the songs' key because they can't sing it in the original key. It's too bad there has to be 2 Searchers bands,but it is what it is.

To remain a good guitar player you must keep in practice. After not touching my guitar in decades, I can barely pluck a chord when once I was pretty good.

Nothing like the original, when you lose the main singer and guitarist (mike Pender and Tony Jackson) call it a day. Too many electric enhancements with these Searchers.
@davidstamp8780

Ha Jackson left the band in 1964 when Frank Allen replaced him so I guess that gives the latter some longevity (ie 10 times as long as Jackson in the band). Pender left in 1985 and Spencer James came in. I think if anything he has a better voice than Pender and the current band is great. 30 odd years going strong in this line up. Each to their own.
