My great-grandmother left Nanking before the Japanese entered. Although this city is not hometown for me, it still has a different weight in my heart. Wish Nanjing prosperity!

No other civilizations can compare to the amazing Chinese, in depths, profundity and can be overwhelmingly mixed of emotions. Need to spend a lifetime going into research and studying through. Getting to soak all the experience through the vastness and diversity takes a lifetime. Those Western fools, blinded in cultures and virtue will find how admirable and amazing China is. Westerners and European cultures are nice but incomparable to the great Chinese people.

Very nice video. Thank you for showing Nanjing city. Nanjing served as the capital of several Chinese dynasties, including the Ming Dynasty and briefly the Republic of China in the early 20th century. Nanjing boasts a rich cultural heritage with numerous historical sites and landmarks. The city's most famous attraction is the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, the burial site of Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang, the founder of the Ming Dynasty. The imposing Nanjing City Wall, the Presidential Palace, and the Confucius Temple are among other notable landmarks. But as a Chinese, I have to mention that Nanjing is also a place of sadness for every Chinese. During the Second World War, the civilians of Nanjing suffered mass killings by the Japanese army, with women and children being raped, houses being extensively burned, and cultural relics looted. The innocent civilians who perished numbered over 300,000. Now, in Nanjing, there is a Memorial Hall for the Victims of the Massacre.

The mandarin characters on the wall bricks, they record the exact place, time and producer which the bricks were made. It is a manufacturing tracing system to insure the quality of the capital wall, which was published by Zhu YuanZhang - the first emperor of Ming dynasty.

The scripts on the bricks are actually where these bricks are made and by whom, for the quality guarantee. If one of them is broken, then the makers would be executed by the empire.
