The Secret Rose Garden. By Sa’d Ud Din Mahmud Shabistari. Audiobook
The Secret Rose Garden is a mystic text written by Sa’d Ud Din Mahmud Shabistari in the 14th century. The book is considered to be one of the greatest classical Persian works of the Islamic mystical tradition known in the west as Sufism . The book was written about 1311 in rhyming couplets (Mathnawi) and is mostly based on Irfan, Islam, Sufism and sciences dependent on them .
The book was written in response to fifteen queries concerning Sufi metaphysics posed to "the Sufi literati of Tabriz" by Rukh Al Din Amir Husayn Harawi (d. 1318) . The book is divided into three parts: the first part is about the nature of God, the second part is about the nature of man, and the third part is about the nature of the universe .
The book is a perennial witness to the capabilities and destiny of humanity . It expresses a unified vision of Reality similar to the perspective of the great Sufi philosopher Ibn Arabi, but expressed through the rich Persian poetic tradition .
