It IS good to know that little things can derail your weight loss, BUT it is also very upsetting to know that the littlest thing can derail your weight loss efforts. It's awful to think that Life is so unforgiving and that you have to be perfect if you want to succeed. : (

Angela NortonTyler and while I absolutely love Susan, it is still about calories in, calories out, unless something has changed. Eating a tablespoon of nuts off plan or having A potato chip should not negate an entire week of bright lines. Not to say a bowl of potato chips or a binge on nuts won't but A bite should not make a 0 weight loss week. Notice that I did say A single bite and I will also add that having a bite, even one can lead to more. I have been BLE for over 70 days and average 2.88 lbs a week, slow for me but I know that I probably have a extra bite of food every couple of weeks (though no sugar or flour) and sometimes choose heavier foods some weeks, like peanut butter over chicken breast. I have decided I'm happy with this and am carrying on. You don't have to be perfect to lose consistently but to maximize weight loss you need to be dang close.

(message is also under Angela's comment) Hi, Angela. I totally agree it's very upsetting! And, Bright Line Betty is absolutely right that what I talk about in this vlog doesn't apply to everyone. Betty: your weight loss of 2.88 pounds per week is not average or slow, it's actually quite high. You're in a very lucky position! And, due to your body's naturally more rapid metabolism, those single extra bites aren't hurting you on the scale. However, they will hurt in the long run when it comes to freedom and automaticity. That said, if you're not a 10++ on the Susceptibility Scale you might find that how you're doing things right now serves you just fine. I know plenty of people who find their peace and freedom doing it exactly as you're doing it. And kudos to you! 70 days and still trucking. Sooooo proud of you!! Back to you, my dear Angela: just know that the "perfection" you speak of doesn't feel like perfection when you're doing Bright Line Eating. It feels more like brushing your teeth every morning without missing. Do you do that? Does it feel like you're whipping yourself into shape to be "perfect" in brushing? I bet not. I bet it feels like you just brush your teeth because that's what you do. Perfection's not really the issue. It's about habits and automaticity. That's the way we roll in Bright Line Eating, and that's what allows us to be successful, even with very little margin for wiggle room. So much love!

Stay the course, Sue. It's not easy...I know. We have MANY people in our community who don't eat nuts during the weight loss phase because it halts their progress. You're not alone!

I am now at Day 12 of the 14 day video series... and it has taken me almost two weeks to actually GET (understand) the program. LOL But, I have to say, this IS the most insightful & affective way to go. Even IF I haven't gotten there YET! But, what I now know is that I am prepared for Battle. I'm at 166, after being at one time... 230 lbs. That was 8 years ago. And fluctuated during that time. I didn't get it? And I didn't understand How foods are addictive! I tried them all...WW, Jenny Craig, diet pills...and not once did it occur to me - that something was wrong with THEIR system. I always thought IT was ME, and my fault...even tho' I worked so dam hard to do the right thing. I just want to thank you, that at age 67 - I can be thin and beautiful again. I haven't seen that way of life since I was in my 30's. And I was never a fat kid...looking back at my pictures as a child..I was not even chubby. UNTIL we moved back to the States (I was born in Germany, and travelled during my younger life) My Mom was not even Fat. BUT my DAD was American, and always obese (from what I recall) HE Died at 62, lost his legs in his 50's....and had diabetes, blocked arteries. I thought this was my future! But all these decades, I was not educated in a way that Worked. And Bright Lines Works!!! Thank you, I am sharing this with all that will listen. Your Videos are Supportive & refreshing... best investment I have ever made. I can't wait till I get to Goal Weight!!! And I plan on being there by the end of Summer - Sept. 1 - is my Deadline. Thank you thank you thank you... I feel like my LIFE just Woke up to a new Joy and Hope, that I never thought possible. And yes, I was like that girl you mentioned in the video...I'm an Artist... I want to be the person I used to be - A singer, and painter & just back to my Excited about Life Self!!!

Hi Susan, Happy Belated Bithday! Your today's blog does make total sense, in fact, I figured that for me every bite counts unfortunately. I did 14-day challenge and although i was not perfect, I lost about 10lbs over the course of month and a half. But unfortunately with Easter celebrations and family gatherings I completely derailed and can't get back on track. I drawn in my complete inability to stick with the food plan and quantities. I stopped going to gym too but it's not helping. Is there a some kind of free or low fee continuos support group without joining the boot camp? Any other advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hello and thank you for taking the time to comment. I've been in your shoes! It's so hard to feel stuck and unable to get back on track! At this particular moment in time, Bright Line Eating does not have a continuous support group outside of the Boot Camp. That being said, our mobile app (to be released later this summer or in early fall) WILL have a community feature! In the meantime, Overeaters Anonymous (OA) offers free live in-person support for people who need accountability with their food plans. I hope this helps! Please don't hesitate to reach out to our Customer Support team at support.brightlineeating.com if you have more questions.

Hi Deborah! Thanks so much for your message. We'd love to tell you more about Bright Line Eating! Bright Line Eating (BLE) is a scientifically grounded program that teaches you a simple process for getting your brain on board so you can finally live as your most authentic self. The core principles of BLE are Bright Lines-clear, unambiguous boundaries we don’t cross just like a non-smoker doesn’t smoke, no matter what. The four Bright Lines are: Sugar, Flour, Meals, and Quantities. We have a Facebook community you may be interested in joining to learn more: facebook.com/groups/brightlineeatingofficial/?fref=nf There is also a book called Bright Line Eating: The Science of Living Happy, Thin, and Free by Susan Peirce Thompson, PhD. You can learn more about the book here: brightlineeating.com/book/ We also offer online support through our Boot Camps and 14-day Challenge here: ble.life/j9rn Those are some great places to start! Let us know if you have any other questions we can help you with!

Bright Line Eating I joined and paid the only offered price for everything except the meditations. I read my Bible and many, many scripture reading books and even attempting to learn Paleo-Hebrew eriktology.net. This serves me very well and am very thankful for the people. I am also excited and know I can do this Bright Line Eating with support. I am not doing good by myself, though. So thankful and thank you, for reaching back at me.
