I learnt BS Tails using this exact tip. I got the trick down a lot better once I started treating it like a BS 50-50. Now I approach the ledge exactly as I would for a BS 50-50, Ollie higher above the ledge, and then turn 90 into the BS Tail.

25 years ago was such a different time. Ben I miss life before the internet was in our pockets all day, but I'm also thankful for it because I've learned a lot from your videos. I took a 20 year hiatus and I'm 6 months back in skating every day. Back tails are next on my list

you only take hiatus when you have had a career in something. thats kinda like a bum sayin "took a 20 year hiatus from society , yap, but im getting back into it"

I relearned fs tailslides some months ago and really love them now. But i havent done any proper bs tailslides in my 27 years on the board. LOL I could to them sw much better 15 years ago because i was more into sw bs 180s at that time. Nowadays my regular and sw bs your method on an unwaxed curb or learning to bs tail stall first. Some days ago i did bs 180 fakie nosegrind for the first time in my life. I was so stoked. (: The key to success were better bs 180s. I hope it will help to learn bs tailslides.

I had them pretty good about 20 years ago, even had the kickflip-ins. Then I tried one at like mach 2 on a box at the park trying to impress the tech homies and slammed so hard on the box with the entire front side of my body. Hit my face and everything, super hard, haha. Kinda gave me a complex about that trick. Edit: slip out, of course. Not a flip in, just straight tail.

If the board over shoots when trying to learn (meaning, you back foot doesn't stay with the taill Put ur back foot on the left corner pocket ( if your regular) right locket if your goofy) Also, try and keep your shoulders ( waist up) parallel the entire time. It will keep you from coming out fakie and you will have more controll holding the slide. Hope tht made sense

Sick tip video for essential shit every street skater needs to learn to step their game up another cool one that a lot of people mess up at first is nollie timing off drops, stairs, gaps etc. When I first started nollie tricks off sht I remember always having the problem of popping too late and it rolling off before the tail hitting the ground. I find a lot of people new to nollie tricks have this issue at first. That’d be a cool tip video to make! Where you have to pop to ensure consistent nollies off stuff.

That makes zero sense to me to put focus on the part of the board that isn’t doing the work but whatever works. It can be different for everyone. I don’t look at the tail or the nose. I look at the ledge while riding up and I plant the tail there. It’s kind of a blank after that.
@williamparisi5901

Hearing this unlocked b/s tail slides for me. With peripheral vision I was able to see the tail getting onto the ledge looking down at the nose. I also think this works for the trick geometrically when your face is looking at your front foot.

If you are deep down afraid of slipping out you immediately stop when you get in because you don‘t fully sit on it with your body weight. Try to imagine that you really get on the ledge and STAY on it with your whole weight and you should be able to slide easy.
