Dachstein - 2,740 metres above sea level - extreme weather conditions
The new building envelope of the Seethalerhütte, on the Dachstein in Ramsau (Austria) at 2,740 metres above sea level, is exposed to enormous weather extremes such as snow and wind pressures, extreme cold and great heat. For this reason, the decision was made to roof and clad the façade with the high-quality PREFA complete aluminium system. The Seethalerhütte will thus once again offer hikers and mountain sports enthusiasts reliable protection from wind and weather for many decades to come.
"A shelter in the truest sense of the word" was the premise for the conversion of the Seethalerhütte in the middle of the Dachstein nature reserve.
Previously, the old roof of the hut had already had to be covered six times, which allowed some of the rain to get inside. The hut was therefore to be rebuilt for good. During the planning phase for the new building, the decision was made to use PREFA FX.12 panels in the colour P.10 stone grey for both the roof and the façade.
Weatherproof, lightweight, corrosion-resistant, easy to work with and particularly durable - these PREFA advantages also convinced those responsible for the project.
The refuge has been awarded the Alpine Club's environmental seal of approval. Among other things, this requires an ecological construction method and the use of sustainable building materials.
