That’s awesome. Seiko’s are just a solid rugged watch. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Thanks for the review. I bought mine earlier this year and it's become a favorite. Despite the fact that the 7S36 movement is somewhat antiquated, I'm quite satisfied with it. Some of my friends have watches with the 7S36 movement for over 20 years and they've never been serviced. I often switch between 2 piece nylon and NATO straps and the drilled lugs make this easy. The easily turned compass bezel is no problem. If I was to use it, I would get my bearing and pick a point in the distance to walk to. As I approach that point I would again adjust the bezel to North and make corrections.

Totally agree. Such an underrated watch, and though the movement is old it’s a work horse.

I may be wrong... but the Compass is a sun compass. Does not need to lock, moving freely is perfectly fine. As if you are hiking, you are constantly moving, changing direction slightly each step. Also when time passes say 15/30 mins etc... the sun would have moved thus the reference for the watch compass has changed...

Hey my friend your reviews are awesome and thanks for reviewing this amazing Seiko . I own the SKZ209J1 blue dial , blue bezel Land Shark 🦈. It’s definitely a outstanding watch and to me I’m not understanding how this watch doesn’t get the same recognition that the SKX does . It’s a Seiko hidden gem 💎. I also 💯agree with you about the movement. I own my Land Shark 🦈, my SKX009 and my Sea Urchin. All with the 7S26 or 7S36 movement and shaking the watch is no issue for me either.

I own the albino version with a white dial. I bought it in 2007 and wore it a lot since then. I took it scuba diving in addition to my viper, and never had a problem. It went down a 60+ meters. So I do not understand why everybody stresses that this is not a diving watch. The bezel doesn't glow? Ok... but who is going on a night dive without a torch? exactly... Love that thing. Wear it on a NATO though.

lol exactly, it’s multipurpose do all watch which you clearly have demonstrated. This would make a great military watch for sure and would have worn it on a deployment any time. Thanks for watching.

I completely agree with your review, I've had one for some years and love its understated looks and practicality, it's a bit of a strap monster too, with drilled making strap changes so easy, plus at $250 it's a bargain!

Nice. But can ANYONE explain to me the usefulness of an internal ring marked with compass points? Especially one that will rattle and move out of position if you look sideways at it. The elapsed time bezel is at least useful.

I think the intent was good and it could have worked if you could look it down. I have unitmatic that has the chapter ring that is a compass.

I don't see the point of such "features" at all. Makes the watch a complete toy. I always dismiss such pieces as marketing junk. But folks go gaga over watches like the Aplinist --- this utterly mystifies me.

Excuse my ignorance , but I don't understand how the compass on this watch works. Does it actually indicate magnetic north?
@DivingIntoWatches-jb5ri
9 ай бұрын
No problem. The crown on the left of the watch turns the inner compass bezel. It’s not free floating like a regular compass. It’s manual adjust to your desired direction. Thanks for watching and commenting.

So what's the point of that "compass"? It won't tell you which way is North, right?
@DivingIntoWatches-jb5ri

It would be to track your direction if it locked , but it’s just a cool feature now.
@johnnie5442

@@DivingIntoWatches-jb5ri so it's not magnetic, it will not point towards the North pole and it's not actually a compass? And on top of that, the movement does not even hack? I mean it looks cool, granted, but.... that's about it.
