My first grown up crush ! I was 12 in 1965 when The Walker Brothers appeared on Ready Steady Go . It was a last minute appearance and only Scott and John cos Gary missed the flight from the States . I have loved him ever since & still play all his music to this day ✌️ ♥️ 🎶 🇬🇧

The most beautiful voice I have ever heard: so clear, deep, distinctive, powerful but gentle at the same time. He should be nicknamed The Voice. And that face... Gorgeous.

In my opinion, the man never got the credit due him. He was EASILY as good as any of our old school crooners...even Sinatra. His vocal nuances were superb!!! And what a writer!!!!

The shadow of your smile when you are gone Will colour all my dreams and light the dawn Look into my eyes my love and see All the wondrous things you mean to me Our wistful little star was far too high A teardrop kissed your lips and so did I Now when I remember spring And all the joy that love can bring I will be remembering the shadow of your smile (Songwriters: J Mandel / P F Webster)

This was very superb. And she wrote some of these unforgettable songs. A petite lady with a superior voice. She ruled that year with the movie and songs. Won the OSCAR for the song. Among other awards against. The GREATS, Donna Summer ,Bette Midler, Streisand and Olivia N. John. Irene Cara became a musical force.

One of the reasons they didn't want Scott Walker to run the old Crooner circuit was he was just soooo good. And they all had enough competition already. His voice was amazing. The big music Unions over here in America, which I believe were controlled by pretty powerful people. Were just too hard to get by or even get recorded here. Imagine this guys voice in Vegas, during the sixties and early seventies. He would have dominated Las Vegas stages. But those stages were controlled by Sinatra and Elvis and Newton and Bobby Darrin and the like. Which were all very great singers and performers. Music business is a tough business. There is just so much competition.

A stunning interpretation of a 'standard' from Scott & a clear reminder of how David B (vocally) at his best, owed at least 50% + to Scott's influence...(& not an additional little to Tony Newley - though that's another story).
