Obviously this is 9 years old at this point so someones probably said it, but theres a parallel to the greek Moirai in the scene where one man has a thread come from his eyepatch (the three fates are said to share 1 eye) who would be Clotho, another who pulls out a length who would be Lachesis, and the one who cuts the thread who would be Atropos. The threads the fates cut are the lives of mortals. The rabbit likely represents someone whose life they ended.

I know this is an old comment but this is an awesome catch. Reminds me of Hercules (my favorite Disney movie) - that scene in the underworld where the fates are about to cut his “thread” while he jumps in to rescue Meg before hers is cut. The three of them are also all “blind” and swap around one eyeball to look at things. That scene always creeped me out as a kid so it always stuck with me but probably why I’m so interested in Greek mythology now lol.

Them grey eyes on the subway Long before you were born You were always to be a dagger floating Straight to their heart. Listen, now, we won't tell anyone. But you're gonna tell the world. So life ain't then any fun. Let your viscera unfurl As you rise; rise from your burning fiat, Go, go get my suitcase, would you? You've thoroughly blown their minds. And now I must have passage on the lines To the veins from your heart. You're not invisible, now. You just don't exist. Your mother must be so proud. You sublimate yourself, granting us a wish. Primitive mirror on the wall, to fortify your grim resolve. And made the glitz of a shopping mall another grain of indigent salt for the sea. I thought that maybe the chairs symbolized personal accomplishments and self worth. When you improve upon something, even to the point where you outdo others, the most important thing is that you have confidence and the will to continue improving even if no one is really there to support you or cheer you along. The numerous amount of chairs in the end were symbolic as to how the girl felt as she continued to improve with magic. In reality there wasn't a single soul present to be amazed or made aware of her potential. Despite this, the girl felt as if she completed a feat which was worthy of a grand audience, hence the chairs.

I shared the same thought; especially put next to the lyrics “you’re not invisible now” and “your mother would be so proud”. I also feel like the magicians symbolized the culmination of doubt and physical challenges, and when she puts on those goggles, it was a metaphor for changing her perspective, which is the only way to overcome them. While no one was there to support her, she knew She was worthy of a crowd. She was the only audience she needed.

Another good interpretation fits with the song’s lyrics: basically, the magician is representative of a driving force that would be used to convince people into actions on the level of suicide bombing (an example being extremist religious doctrine). At the end of the video, the bomb has exploded, and now the magician bows to a greater audience. The event puts more attention on her on a grand scale, yet in today’s world, the audience is invisible. You never know how many people see an event like that, look into why that person did it, and genuinely go “hey, I agree with this.” And become indoctrinated themselves.

As the rabbit slowly folded into nothing, the three men stared in amazement. Their new pet rabbit had been lost. They had bought it just a short train ride ago, and, being magicians, decided to make it black because they liked the color. After a short consultation amongst themselves, they came to the conclusion that the rabbit had been taken using a short-range teleportation spell. Accordingly, they began to search for their lost rabbit. As they searched, they became more and more infuriated about their rabbit being stolen right underneath their noses. The one-eyed man, having a telescope, had more visible range and just made out a small magic show hosted by a child. He pointed it out and they all decided to check it out. When they got to the surprisingly talented girl's show, they spotted the rabbit in a crate near the girl's feet. Obviously, they inquired as to how the girl had obtained it. She told them it was just a simple rabbit-in-a-hat trick, and that she intended to keep it. After a heated argument over the ownership of the rabbit, the men put her in a bag and cast a spell on the bag so that it would take the girl home, her being far too young to be on her own. After hauling the crate (still having the rabbit in it) quite a far distance, the crate suddenly flung itself onto the ground. What they saw next would be their worst nightmare. Their beautiful rabbit that they would cherish and love forever was morphed into a hideous beast, ready to tear them apart. Casting a counter-spell, the men waited for the rabbit to change back, but the girl had made the rabbit this way permanently. The rabbit launched a fireball at the men and they all fell, never to get back up again. As they were slowly dying, they watched the girl land and take a bow. It had all been a sadistic play, for no one to watch. It was all just to humor this girl that had stolen their beloved rabbit, and turned it into a monster. May those men rest in peace, they did what they could.

What a profound piece of art! Not only this song, but this video too. It beautifully demonstrates the tug of war between two seemingly opposite sides that ultimately both want to use you and are either corrupt or full of empty promise. The grand irony, and the greatest magic trick of all is that in the end the rabbit rose up to save one master from another. Its the path of impossible situations. The rabbit has all the power, only to ultimately be a tool one way or another.

Its great to see some animation that clearly has a lot of time and effort put into it. It means more when you can clearly see the workmanship and you can fully appreciate how long it must of took. All too often today more and more people rely on C.G.I and although it can look good it looses any sense of reality, it simply isn't there. However, something like this comes along and reminds you what an art form animation really is. It also is a good thing when the quality of the music reflects the quality of the video.

The problem with CGI is that more and more we see things stolen consept arts from arts, using prompts with little change or really good arts that lack history (since most games are made by ruge groups, are completely comercial things and not rarely the artist needs to work with little or no history for background) of course, that's my perspective from games, there is a lot of good CGI arts and a good present director can make a hell of difference. But, as something that's need time, patience stop motion attracts the dedicated ones and are often make by small but unified groups and it ingreses the chance of solid results. (Feel free to say if I said something stupid)

I see this in a different light from some. The magicians were trying to misuise the rabbit, turn it into what they want, I see them as a representation of humans abusing nature. The other magician however, returns power and freedom to the rabbit, or to the nature of planet Earth, in my analogy.

@@vicenteriquelme7528 I know this was a long time ago, but you can relate to it to a suicide bomber is some way. The three men were pressuring and manipulating another person into doing it (the rabbit), but somebody (the witch) tried to save them. At the end when the rabbit swallows everybody, I think that the (rabbit) blew up the three men and the (witch) because their mind couldn't take it.

Thought I'd give you guys my ideas as to the meaning of this video: 1. The magician is someone close to the bomber or someone in a safeguarding role In this interpretation, the video shows the magician preventing a potential bomber from being radicalised by a recruiter. The rabbit being the bomber and the three men being the group trying to radicalise their victim. The magician realises that the rabbit is being recruited and intervenes to try and prevent this from happening. The men say that the rabbit is fated for the role they have in mind so they of course try to separate the magician from the rabbit. The magician doesn't give up though and manages to support the rabbit when it needed it most. In a moment of clarity using the strength provided to it by the magician, the rabbit is able to stand up to the three men and send them packing. The chairs at the end could represent all the potential lives that were saved in this moment. Works reasonably well and is a nice feel good contrast to the lyrics 2. The magician is the recruiter In this interpretation, the video is basically the recruiter's propaganda spiel to a prospective bomber. The bomber is represented by the rabbit while the three men would represent those who are close to the bomber. The magician paints them as the villain and separates their target from those who care about them so they can uplift them to a greater purpose where they can finally get back at the villainous men who were holding them back. The chairs at the end could represent either the lives lost in the attack or the magician's newfound audience due to the attack. Matches the lyrics nicely but doesn't work quite as well 3. The magician is the bomber In this interpretation, the video shows the bomber's perspective on the attack. The rabbit represents their ideals and the group of people that adhere to them while the three men represent society as a whole. After witnessing their ideals be actively oppressed by others again and again, the magician grows increasingly determined to do something about it. Eventually, their ideals become so warped that they can consider only way to respond. With the sense of power and righteousness they feel, the magician finally vanquishes everyone who oppressed those they care about. The chairs at the end could represent either the lives lost in the attack or all who were supposedly freed by it. Definitely a bit of a stretch though 4. The magician is a doctor In this interpretation, the video has nothing to do with the lyrics and instead tells the tale of a doctor working miracles to save lives. The rabbit represents a patient who is near death or is as good as dead while the three men represent fate and the seeming inevitability of death. The magician works wonders to snatch the rabbit from the jaws of fate and bows to an audience of either all those who have previously been saved or all those who care for the rabbit and wish for its good health. This was my first thought before I knew the lyrics I don't know if the video has anything to do with the lyrics and tbh it probably doesn't but I thought it would be a fun thought experiment to overthink this video 😅 Let me know what you guys think! :)

this is amazing, I love the song and the video. before I scrolled down the comments section I thought it was about a battle between good and evil. the girl magician is "good" and the 3 suited magicians are "evil". the rabbit is "saved" from the influence of the malicious magicians only to be taken from one kind of prison to another. Viewed as a pawn by both sides and used in their battle against one another until it becomes powerful enough to take charge of its own life.

Nina E. Schulz Then again, "you sublimate yourself" is literally to go from a solid to a gas without passing through the liquid phase. Also, the "primitive mural on the wall" could be the splatter resulting from the explosion, and the "burning fiat"...well, I don't think i need to explain that one. Also "dead lungs command it" could imply that he's doing this for his beliefs that were written by ancient people. I could go on, but really just googling it would be better. :p
