Thanks for this video! I play this solo every couple of months myself. The game is responsible for getting me interested in this conflict, and then led me to picking up "Six Frigates," a book by Ian Toll. It's a fascinating story of the early US Navy, and the Tripolitan war features heavily in the first half. I highly recommend it.

For solo only, I think being on the fence is fair, though it's really enjoyable. If you think you might get in 1v1 sometimes, it's definitely worth it.

The price tag is the biggest issue. If it were a $35 game it would be a no-brainer but at close to $70 it's a big ask. For me it's worth it because I'm really into early American naval history but for most people you can get a lot more game for that kind of money.

The only fiddly part I see is the solo information being on a separate sheet that needs to be cross referenced, although I understand why they can't put all the info on the cards. The dice resolution seemed swingy, but as usual, with enough dice the outcomes normalize.

For sure, and like I said in the review I think you need the dice to be this wild sometimes.

I have found this game a bit too simple, and seems scripted to exactly what occurred historically, since most cards can only be played at specific times. The only randomness seems to be in the dice rolls and when you get cards.

That’s basically exactly what I said in my review. I wish they allowed for a bit less historical accuracy and more variety
