The key thing is to do everything by the book and not try to take short-cuts. Before I relocated to the Philippines I transferred USD 15,000 every month for two years. I informed my own bank, the bank in the Philippines to which it was being transferred and, through my lawyer, the authorities. I had all the necessary paperwork to prove it was legally obtained. This was never questioned. When my wife and I relocated permanently I transferred a considerable sum of money, generated by the sale of property. Again, I informed the authorities and was required to complete some paperwork. All that the authorities in the Philippines required was proof of the source of the money, I presume to address the issue of money laundering. I had a brief interview with a consular official and everything was fine. Yes, it all amounted to a degree of bureaucracy, but hardly enough to make my life difficult and ultimately everything was official.

Meron po akong naka meet through dating app. Medyo natatakot akong magbigay kasi malaking pera nga and wala akong masyadong alam pa sa ganitong law. Then tumawag ulit sakin yung officer sabi pinag sign daw ng waiver si afam (akala ko naman para ma clear na sya, yun pala nabawasan ng 50% yung fee na need nyang i settle which is 27500 down to 13500 nalang) napapaisip ako kung magkasabwat ba yung afam at yung pinay? 1 month ko palang kausap yung afam and everytime na tumatawag sya sakin yung number nya is pang uk so convinced talaga ako. Pero this time parang may mali 🥺
