Fun fact that in the 3D section there’s a building and fish pond with a music cue taken from the videogame Myst I’m pretty sure. Like a homage to it or something

Definitely a fun one for sure and one of the best Tree House of Horror as each episode hits really well when others in the past at least one falls short. Myself I think the Freddy Kruger ripoff with grounds keeper Willie is great especially how he died just sitting patiently while engulfed in flames in great. Love the Godzilla references to the giant billboards including Homer trying to out smart the Lard Man. Even Homer 3 with just his screw ip causing the dimension fall in on itself is very Simpsons.

YES. Yes, the animation IS super impressive. All of us who saw it in the 90’s thought it was magical and to me it stands the test of time exactly like the Terminator 2 CGI has. I just find it original, beautiful and it lasts exactly the amount of time it should’ve.

This is a good episode, I especially like the Willie part. I saw aliens when I was 10-ish and my parents let me watch bond movies since I was 6, not exactly kid friendly.

It might be 99% because I'm a huge fan of David Fincher (one of my top 3 favorite directors), but I like Aliens 3 more than Aliens, its almost as good as Alien in my opinion (but its hard to top an iconic initial entry in a franchise, like Back to the Future or Die Hard)

@@JBSpookyReview I really do unironically like Prometheus and Covenant, mostly for Fassbender, and I like Katherine Waterston, and how it adds history/lore to the mythos, but they're definitely "modern" style movies, they lose the tension and suspense of the first trilogy.

I use that same analogy with this episode on media people don't like! If you don't like it stop paying attention to it! It's that old saying: even bad publicity is better than NO publicity!

Hung popped my pedants paradoodle, but I shall try and contain it 🙂 ...and, of course, Big Buns off of The Terminator. Oh, AND, and, I mean technically, the Stay Puft marshmallow man, right? Giant mascot come to life... My ninth favourite trivia question is 'What's the names of the terror-dogs?' Number one is 'What colour was David Bowie's eyes?' Nope, not going to say, you can look it up, only you will ever know if you knew before you did, it's all good. Gravy is as gravy does. Gravy is, usually a liquid, of course, which makes me wonder why the container for gravy is called a gravy boat, since a boat is expressly intended to keep liquids out. Gravy is something different over here. It's brown for a start. I've had biscuits and gravy. I wondered what i had done to so offend people. Might just be shock, though. Surely you mean you were familiar with Alan Cubed? See, I just won't Alan 3. Just, can't. Seen it, once, did not care for it. Alien Resurrection was better, IMHO, but, only because it had two shots that kicked bottom - the basketball shot and the Alans underwater. Which didn't look great, but, as soon as I saw them swimming I was, 'oh, yes, these things are water-dwelling Richard torpedoes. That's two shots, and the rest is awful, but A:R is two shots better than A:3 imho. YMMV :-) Alan is damned near perfect but has one huge plot hole, that being how Alan grew so much. And it IS a hole, because the whole film makes massive effort to look and feel realistic, that's it's design motif, so, just saying 'well, it's Alan, that means it can do anything' doesn't work. This central hole has troubled me for many years, and led me to the conclusion that there was a different event order in the original script. I reckon, originally, it went something like this. The Nostromo arrives to collect the refinery, during that, they detect the sos, they find the ship, Kane gets infected, they come home, Kane explodes. The crew go into hypersleep, reasoning that this will kill off that nasty thing because there's nothing it can eat. But. What they don't know is that Alan can eat the ship itself, which is why when they wake up, the nasty bastard is the exact same colour as the ship. The fugger is the same colour as the pilot dude, the burster is, basically, the same colour as Kane. Alan can eat the ship because of the acid blood, right, it can dissolve metal, ceramics, whatever, and absorb them, hence, amongst other things, the metal teeth. Although the burster has them too, so, maybe not. Now, i don't mention this to say there's a better film out there, just, I think that script got moved around to better fit Ridley. I do think, though, that having Alan do his misty breathing on the crew while they sleep would be a wicked unnerving shot. Also, with the actual edit, Wayland Yutani know about Alan, know what Alan IS, at least in large part (because Ash does) but, thanks to Alans, when this collection job goes wrong, they do nothing whatever about this for fifty seven years. Now, you might say they set up the colony to go do this, but, fifty seven years? It's not like they don't know where the ship is, it's broadcasting where it is, so, I mean one wonders why the colonists didn't detect that, but, in any case, who starts a project that won't see dividend until after they've died? Speculation, of course. No, I really can talk about Alan for hours on end. IRL I must be stopped. Inserting Kronenbourg works And yes, I know calling it Alan is a one time joke that wears very thing very quickly, but I cannae let it go. Did ya notice when Wiggum shoots into the fourth dimension the bullets come through still in their casings? Yeah. That ought to have been caught. Anyhoo. 03:15, might be time for bed.
