I listened to Brian Stack being interviewed on the Inside Conan podcast, and got some more insight into this madness. This wasn't a bit that Late Night put together, the actual band Slipknot asked Brian, Andy, and Jon to open for them, and the crowd, who was there to see Slipknot, really did hate the Slipnutz antics. You can't really see it in the parts they aired, but according to Brian, they had to be escorted off the stage when the crowd started chucking bottles at them.

I was so happy, then I Conan said "Robin Williams is here!" and I got sad at how we lost a comedic legend

The thing is Robin Williams was just clowning around one day and slipped on some nuts. People please be careful with nuts because they are slippery.

I NEVER see or hear the band Slipknot without saying “I slipped on some nuts!” 😂

I'm shocked that a man of integrity like Conan would encourage joking about such a serious health & safety issue

It was subtle, but did you see that little gesture of clapping at 4:11? Slipknot definitely respects the the horizons Slipnutz has opened for them in performance. Rightly so, as the nut-strewn mosh-pits Slipnutz were starting in the 90s really paved the way for more contemporary acts like Slipknot. I love to see innovators and pioneers being credited for the next generation they paved the way for. Paved with smashed nuts, you might say in this case.
