Monuments has it's moments but guitars or not, Billy couldn't save that era (let alone the album) by himself. Cyr and the next couple albums continue the evolution of Billy's visions and show great creativity and growth with ALL the members of the band contributing. I see it like this, Shiny was free breadsticks, Cyr is an appetizer, and the next courses will be the main dish and dessert! 🤘🤘 It's all gravy from here on out anyways...

Artists live and breathe, they are not wax figures in a museum. The true artist CHANGES, like The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan and David Bowie and Radiohead and U2 and Bruce Springsteen and R.E.M. and The Beatles. Listen to R.E.M. “9-9” from Murmur in 1983, then listen to “The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite” from Automatic For The People (1992). Those are 2 of my favorite R.E.M. songs, 9 years apart, but they sound CENTURIES APART, and they don’t sound like the same band. Artists CHANGE and GROW. A true artist cannot stay in the box that you approve of. A true artist never checks for your approval. R.E.M. 9-9. kzitem.info/news/bejne/mY6JuZ56knx2hZg R.E.M. @@wildmercuryfilms I understand that, but this is a massive departure from what put them on the map in the 90s and just sounds like shit honestly. I personally don’t care much for those other artists. I like some of their songs, but I was a hardcore pumpkins fan since the 90s and Billy was one of my biggest inspirations for picking up a guitar and learning it. That’s why hearing stuff like this hurts and I don’t think Billy would mind me saying that because it shows how much I absolutely loved what they used to produce.

Not a single song from this project has near the impact of even the weakest song from the beginning to Machina II, or even Zwan or The Future embrace. And I no longer even own The Future Embrace. I don't want to believe that this band, one of/if not my favorite band ever, is done. I am going to pretend like this album never existed...
@@jean-pierremartins4214 I'll give the songs another listen or two. Honestly Zeitgeist and Shiny haven't really grown on me. There are a few songs I really liked, but not as a whole. I still need to dig into that in between period though. Haven't yet heard all of Oceania, Monuments, Teargarden

As a die hard SP loyalist I will always support beautiful Billy & the sometimes not so loyal or appreciative pumpkins..... I wasn't expecting techno. Thought we were gonna get Gish part 2 w the return of the sacred guitar. The rowdy punker in me IS throwing a tantrum, but my love for Billy will override & form appreciation for this techno dalliance. I did it for Beck w Colors & the Information. But Modern Guilt is definitely more my liking. I love you Billy. Forever ♥️ and ever.
