There is the southwest archive library in sowton industrial estate in exter that has all of the strictly air controlled written data in vaults and an an extensive reference library which is bookable by appointment if your interested

Love the History you talk about, could listen to you talk about it all day. also very nice finds to go along with it : ) Very cool that smugglers and other interesting activity went on around there, perhaps even pirates with even more swashbuckling adventures that left little historical treasures for you to find !

Yes i think you could be right on the Liverpool half Penny token. It’s not that easy to make out the wording but I can see a few letters that tie in. 😊👍🏻

The 'gaming token looks like a late 18th century halfpenny 'conder token' or trade token, there were quite a few with that sort of shield shape. They were produced due to the lack of small change copper coins at the time. The other halfpenny is indeed a George II. I almost went out with the club today, they say the ground was still frozen and the wind very brassic this morning up on the Cotswolds!

I’ve been looking at those half penny tokens you mention this afternoon - really interesting and as you say quite a few with a similar shield emblem! Thank you for that pointer. The ground was very tough in shady areas not so bad on the tops of hills in the warm sun ☀️

I have just managed to secure 27,500 acres of land to search between exeter and plymouth which i am sure they used south of the main route that is now known as the A38,however my reynauds problem prevents me from doing it,i have waited decades to find something like this,and in my senior years i do feel really choked up by it,i am currently seeking medical advice,but the onset has advanced its self due to 3 covid jabs i had to have to carry out my job,amongst other health issues,it was either leave your job or do as your told,i chose the latter 😢

Just to let you know you should never spray water on copper coins as it causes a reaction to the surface

Thank you, its rainwater in my spray bottle. Same as the rain that has been falling on that coin since it was dropped! I did some research on water and copper alloy - the least chloride option for me (in my area) was rainwater. But the next best would be deionised. You're spot on though regarding tap water, its an absolute killer of copper alloy coins!
