On the question of why would Poch want to coach a national team, I saw either on Sky or ESPN that his Chelsea severance has a hefty penalty if he takes a club job. They said the penalty didn't apply to national teams. As I understood it, by the time we get through a WC cycle, that penalty goes away. So he takes us deeper than anyone thinks possible, becomes a hero again, and takes the biggest club job available in 2026. And we all live happily ever after!

Pochettino has or knows South American more than well enough. And he knows European Soccer well enough. He played in the Argentinian National Team He has been coaching in Europe for a while, the PSG Espanyol and Chelsea are pretty good European Clubs that give you a Solid experience, to be a Coach of the USMNT. I think Pochettino is the new baseline what a USMNT coach should have or be better. So the USMNT will benefit from a wide range of experiences, which will help a lot. Not gonna say he guarantees you anything more than what you're willing to work for. Also, he has a good idea of what it takes to be World Cup Champion

7:30 Excellent and thank you for saying that 👍 I would always remind the USMNT Players that the United States is an Athletic Nation in every sport INCLUDING Soccer. We have always been number one nations in Sports for both Men and Women, including in Soccer on the Women's side. So why is it that only in Soccer we can't be number one on the Men's side. You have only failed in Men's Soccer - This is Factual. And this point should be discussed as is. Why we're only failing in Men's Soccer? To know if you're number 1 in the World you must win the Tournament that everybody plays in. Example on the Continental of the Americas (North / South America) we don't succeed in Copa America. As far as the Gold Cup the South American Powerhouses don't participate. And the most important test is FIFA World Cup. We fail as Men at FIFA World Cup more than we succeed, but not the US Women. WHY ? Actually the answer should be, because we don't do the right things in Men's Soccer, while the same Federation makes the right decisions on the Women side very easily. That's how the Reality of the issue is. Deal with the Stats to see the real Facts.

The USSF, It was always hard to believe that the Problems are all at the USSF as far as the USMNT, because it's the same soccer Federation that oversees the USWNT. You can't be responsible for the USMNT's failures but not for the USWNNT successes, things don't work that way. Either both or none. So I guess while the USSF was dong a great job on the USWNT side of things, there were problems preventing the USMNT from making the fast correction it needed. Example, At the USWNT and after the World Cup early exit, the USSF was successful and at a very fast rate in hiring a new Coach and getting the Olympic Gold Medal. But at the USMNT although the failures were much much worst, somehow the coach they failed with continued to get hired - Which didn't make sense It is impossible that an institution that hires Emma Hayes for the USWNt, would want to do the same for the USMNT. It's common sense. So who was preventing the hiring of a better coach for the USMNT, until finally we got Pochettino? I think the US Soccer Media should get that answer, because the US FAN Base deserves to know. You can't have girls very happy with the Women's National Team but in the same Family guys are not because of the USMNT failures, though this Men team had always had enough talent. The Journalist that gets that answer from within the USSF, will deserve as far as I'm concerned a MEDAL. Who was standing between the USMNT and a good coach? We can no longer say it's the USSF as whole because that's impossible. It's either someone at the USSF (an individual or individuals) or from outside the USSF. The answer is needed only to educate the US FANS about their Men's National Team. That's it.

Now that all of the Mexican teams (“clubs”) are out of the Leagues Cup, can we just call it a wrap on this competition, not play anymore games and just get the MLS back in full swing? The Leagues Cup only matters until all of one league is out. So that has happened. Let’s move on with the season. 👏👏

We actually had a shockingly good domestic league in the early 1930s, which was a huge factor in that 3rd place run. Then the Great Depression killed it, sadly. I think we’d be decades ahead of where we are now if that original league in the Northeast had survived.

@@michaelstein7510- Another issue was the creation of FIFA and its desire to control things all around the world. The U.S. leagues and its fans were largely made up of people who left Europe and its class system and came to America to seek to change their futures. Having a European overlord did not sit well with people in the U.S. and that also contributed to the decline of soccer’s popularity in the U.S.

I didn't believe it at first, then I woke up this morning and both David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano had tweeted it, it's an excellent appointment, he's a top 20, if not top 15 manager in the world, if it doesn't work this time, it won't be the manager, based on his reputation he's probably the biggest name manager ever in CONCACAF, I'm interested to see how he works with and helps develop some younger players, particularly Reyna and Balogun, he's done well with younger players, e.g Dele Alli, Cole Palmer, he also helped turn Harry Kane from a decent young striker into an absolute beast, it's a very good appointment for you guys

Poch’s focus needs to be on 2026. I don’t want him wasting time on development when we all know there needs to be a fundamental change on how we do things. From top to bottom there will be so much push back from entrenched interests. If we have a successful World Cup and he wants to stay then, yes, I’d want him to lead development reform. But his sole focus should be on 2026.

The USSF can create some sort of Publication that helps all US Soccer Professionals, now that they all need to be on the same page on. It need not talk about any confidential issues or policies. Simple make everyone aware of all the national teams stats, Women and Men, and if there are any official programs that address the upcoming SET GOALS of the Federations Just the Professionals, not the general public. And maybe the US Soccer Media and lead discussions with the various US Ultras and US FAN Base all over the country. An even like World Cup 2026 should be used to Unify everybody around the National Team, the Flag.. and that may help in ways you don't expect maybe even in the Economy local Political Policies etc.. There always are a lots of Positives that come out from Sports. USE IT OR LOSE IT. The hiring of American Pochettino will give the US FAN base many positives to feel good about, while we wait for WORLD CUP 2026

9:55 See that's the thing. Why did US Soccer as a Whole wait for the South American Coach Pochettino to succeed in Europe (and there are others) then realize who he has more pertinent experience for the World Cup then the coaches we have in MLS ??? That's a flaw which can be fixed quickly, by simply creating a listing of Job openings in the MLS that is distributed only among Coaches that are on a Special List. You can start from now building a top 20 or 50 or 250 list of best Soccer Coaches in the World, that you have some sort of regular ongoing communications with. Some of those names can be American of course, but you want the best in the World - Period

Our center back pool is pretty weak at the moment, so I can see him at least giving Tim Ream (assuming he hasn’t retired from international duty) and Walker Zimmerman a look in camp. Same for Patrick Schulte at goalkeeper. People will hold their nose at Zimmerman, but it’s not like we have loads of great options right now. Shaq Moore and Miles Robinson are probably done. It sucks for Miles that he never really recovered from that Achilles rupture in 2022. He just isn’t the same player anymore. Maybe Poch will throw a bone to a guy like Diego Luna to prevent Mexico from poaching him after we stupidly snubbed him from the Olympic team.

@@joselopez1892 I’ve always thought it was weird Zimmerman never made the move to England. He easily could have been playing in the Championship for the last 5 years or so. He’s good enough and certainly physical enough for that league. I guess he’s like Landon Donovan where he’s comfortable staying in the US. I like how Auston Trusty has been playing lately. He might become a bigger part of the national team soon. Maybe Poch can make CCV improve, as well. I think Tanner Tessman could also slide into a CB role to get more playing time.
