Myspace's relationship status was at the very bottom of a profile next to all personal information. Quite frankly, it was not a focus of one's profile. Myspace was intended for us to show how we see ourselves and our personal info was not of much matter. On Facebook, it's the first thing you see.
@YoungNino2017

LOL exactly... Friendster had relationship status too.
@MrGbounds
7 жыл бұрын
Taking a shot in the dark here, but when myspace was going around, it was centered around just adding people, friends family or randoms, and put them in top X friends. You could add musicians, artists or even profiles of pets at the time. As facebook began, their idea was to make it private and only make valid profiles using real people. So... Having a relationship status addition to a private friend requested site means you could social with only real potential friends. As most people know, college is a time for socializing and making connections which is what facebook was offering a personalized real level and you could only get legit information about your peers while myspace didn't. It was also bland and 'college professional" and encouraged other like minded people to connect with eachother rather than have bedazzled spongebob backgrounds that had weed 420 meme's blinking nonstop. it was a stroke because we can still see it in today's websites that have been around for years that integration hasnt magically popped up regardless of how other sites have them. We can use the example of LinkedIn, if they could find a better way to show relationship statuses of whatever sort and then find future potential relationships, female to male or just even business ones, they would probably experience massive growth. Rather they're taking the myspace approach and using their friends/aquaintenanceship as nothing but just a feature. Could be wrong.

While it's easy to be triggered as actual developers, at least the computer screen had actual [albeit blurred] code on it and not a giant matrix-like animation with a "Click here to implement new idea" button. Plus I can't blame the directors for not including the details of implementation, as it would not serve to enhance the plot (Zuckerberg is inspired -> Rushes home -> Adds relationship status feature). Even if a more detailed scene WAS shot, it would more than likely be cut out during editing :P

Of course the change was done in an amazingly short period of time, but I don't think the audience really needs to see all of those kinds of changes nor would they understand it.
