I get why they settled, though I wonder what the result of going to court would have been. And yes, I get that the movie diverges a lot from reality - I'm talking about in the movie. Would Mark have been able to polish himself up enough to not be an instant kill with a jury?

i think it would have been an instant kill. thats what the lawyer at the end implies, if eduardo took mark to court, he would lose instantly. that why she told him to settle it and sign a NDA. thew metaphor was brilliant. it was a small price for him in the scheme of things

A better UI and hype. Those aren't small factors, but it wasn't an original idea by any means. The problem with Zuckerberg, and consequently Facebook is his complete disregard and even outright contempt for others. We need to stop worshipping at the altar of megalomaniacs like him and Jobs, and so many others in corporate america. The great American dream is functionally a lie that oppresses the majority while allowing the wealthy to continue to amass ever more control over society while limiting the opportunities for anyone to challenge their power.

I don't know what was the whole story, but if he got upset to having only 0.3% and hold it, today that would be: 28.29000 billion * 0.3 = eight billion four hundred eighty-seven million. I wouldn't make a fuzz... :D

@@WhiteZorin The point is that from 30% it was lowered to 0.03% when no one else's share decreased. It doesn't matter that its still millions of dollars when its such a big difference. Compared to his original share its almost nothing. He was screwed over big time.

@@joejohn. Sorry for replying a month later but I was curious myself. It had a lot to do with Eduardo signing away his intellectual property rights to Facebook for 3 million shares and Mark making new shares from setting up shop in Delaware that Eduardo had no control over so his 3 million ended up getting diluted down to nothing(I say nothing, the man walked away with several million but in the grand scheme of things, its nothing).

Incorrect. That would be 3%, not 0.03%. It'd "only" be worth 270 million. Doesn't matter though. I think they settled out of court for billions.

In real life it was 10% not 0.03% and even if you use the numbers in the movie it is 5%. 1,400,000/4,000,000 is 35% and 1,400,000/(4,000,000 + 24.000,000) is 5%. I get that 0.03% is more dramatic but is a HUGE change
