Where if you watch be the B the installer as an example, he is definitely making a big part of his income from KZitem, which is fine. However, he’s not paying for the products himself like Danielle is so he’s influenced by the manufacturers just as we are influenced by him. B the Installer is a perfect example of a KZitemr who started off straight up, then grew a base of customers and now he basically says everything is good such as the LG sound bar. I’m not trying to not B the installer, he seems like a nice guy and I like watching him. But it feels like a sales pitch most of the time.

I am planning for a fall purchase. Been researching a lot, combined with lots of trips to different places to listen to the systems in person. After a lot of turmoil, I recently settled on the Sonos soundbar/300's system. This to the chagrin of multiple salesman who are convinced that I am ruining my life with that sort of theater system setup. But this changes everything as I am 100% locked into getting the A95L and I believe that the quads will intersect with the tv to provide an elevated experience after seeing your video. I appreciate your channel and how you mix the detailed information with an entertaining and edgy commentary.

77” A95L owner here. Have their STR-AZ7000ES AVR and use the Acoustic Center Sync function with my 7.2.4 speaker setup. I can’t recommend the TV enough, best combination of oled and processing in any tv to date and tends to be very accurate with respect to the director’s intent. A95L speakers are awesome, best in any TV I’ve heard, with ACS brings the center image of dialogue up to the center of the screen and adds a sort of “wall of sound” effect, which is super immersive. In my setup the tv speakers take over the higher frequency sounds and dialogue from the center channel speaker, which does more of the low end. Also nice is that when you pair a Sony TV with the Quad, the TV remote’s menu buttons integrate with and allow you to control audio modes directly without the Quad’s remote. Super convenient experience that isn’t talked about enough, staying in one brand’s ecosystem. You’re gonna love the A95L + Theatre Quad combo

$2,500 plus an additional $700 is fair. Think about what Bose use to charge for their lifestyle systems. $4,000 & that was 25 years ago. Is $3,200 a lot now? Yes. Is it reasonable compared to what was sold in the past? Yes. Is the quad worth over $3000 that’s up to. you. I was able to pick up the A9 for $1100 without a sub. It’s definitely worth around $1600 with the sub. I did use the system for about a month without any sub at all.. I would have to say it sounds amazing without a sub and a sub just adds the low frequency that gives the movies more impact as you well know. The system is 100% usable without a sub though and if you’re coming from just TV speakers, it will sound night and day as your TV has zero bass. Living with the AI was a joy 😊😊

Thanks for the comparison review :) The box was made bigger for better air flow as people were also complaining about the original boxes over heating and being noisy. One key thing you also missed off with the acoustic center sync... On the original HT-A9, the speakers and TV while they play together, they play independently. On the Quads if you have a 2022 TV model onwards (need to update to latest firmware), then the TV gets included as part of the calibration and plays in unison with the speakers so sounds much better.

For me the original sounded a bit tinny and that's why I couldn't get on with them. If you can't place the speakers any wider than a soundbar, then get a soundbar. If you can place the speakers at least 2.5m-3m which is double the distance of the Dragon, then get the Quads. Can the system compensate effectively for a room setup where the TV and sofa are on the left of the room, where one speaker would be near the TV (probably just above it) and the other say 3 metres to the right same height? Always enjoy watching your videos and thanks again. No centre channel or, TV as a centre channel, mmm but what happened to the importance of a good center channel for movies/dialogue etc? Get it that the wider soundstage may bring its own benefits, espically with music but size of the room matters too and needs to be considered. I would love to see you try a Sonos setup but replacing the additional E300 you added with a pair of 5s. This way to bring more stereo abilities over an ARC but deliver the better musical abilities the 5 are meant to offer. Or, what about dual Move 2 as additional stereo speakers, that can then also be used in other rooms when needed?

Hopefully Sonos new soundbar due in September would allow two Era 300's at the front as well as add DTS, would then be the perfect setup. Phantom center isn't that bad though, it's miles better than the original HT-A9 and some people with wired separates run phantom centers these days.

Not having an option for a 2nd sub is killing it. I own the HT-A9 since release and tested it (in my room) against Samsung Q990C and Sonos Arc incl. 2 subs and ERA300. The HT-A9 has the upper hand on spaciousness and immersion. Since Sony is so close-minded and doesn't allow for a 2nd sub - I decided NOT to upgrade to the Quad. I will upgrade back to Sonos once they release their new soundbar this year. Sony's PRM (product management) is really nuts not to take advantage of the enthusiast market (allow for 2 subs and allow to configure the quad with 2 massive / superior front-quads).

Due to significant differences between streaming lossy 5.1 and atmos and blue rays - and how dramatically any one movie/series uses upward firing channels and rear channels- I don’t have a particular setting for you - I’m always adjusting based on content … I do tend to test some at an intense level to get a sense of the full force but mostly I listen to 60% of what would be loud enough to hurt hearing. The quad and A9 do not get as loud as flagship soundbar setups so I tend to have it at a higher % volume … other than this I keep the sound field on - if there is an auto mode I keep it there - and I keep height settings at default or highest

I had the Dragon for a few weeks but ended up returning it. The sound was loud, but I felt it was brittle and shrill no matter what I did with the settings. This was particularly true on non-Atmos content, like classic movies that only have mono or stereo tracks (I don’t do upmixing, I like to hear the sound as it was originally intended). With that in mind, since the Quad is neck and neck with the Dragon as depicted here, would that maybe be the superior pick for someone like myself? And what about the Bravia Theater Bar 9?
@neverenoughtech

I’d say that if you are not into upmixing none of these are for you. The quad is really meant to sound field everything … you may be better off with traditional components
@Johnzilla2179

@@neverenoughtech Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I don’t really have the space for AVR or components and the missus already told me no, anyway. That’s why I was initially interested in the Dragon, but I found it disappointing. I currently have the Q990B, but I feel like it has a lot of glitches and quirks, so I was looking to upgrade. I’m also curious about the Bravia Theater Bar 9, but the reviews tend to favor Samsung when it comes to bars (though that one is new enough that it hasn’t gotten much coverage).

Samsung may at some point increase the number of speakers that can be paired via Q -symphony - they are kind of half there. Sonos seems well positioned to offer something similar with their flexible eco system … but other manufacturers seem more far fetched

How much better is this system compared to the sonos arc + era 300s setup?
@neverenoughtech
3 ай бұрын
The 300s have a lot of promise -- I think the front hardware needs to be updated to get a more official sound … there is a transitional kind of vibe going on - so I would say the quad sounds more fully thought out. But I sense the real comparison will happen when/if Sonos officially allows 300s in front and rear … otherwise it is a bit apples and oranges.

Is it better to plug an apple tv to the Quad receiver or straight to the TV?
@neverenoughtech
3 ай бұрын
For sound it’s always safest to plug straight into the quad as the TV can do funny things before passing on the audio - especially if you have not selected the correct settings. If you know what you are doing and your TV has eARC then it probably doesn’t matter a whole lot … especially since the quad can pass 4K/120

Gonna have to watch this later tonight. Just brought home today the Sonos arc and 300 setup as it’s on sale. But have been eyeing the a9 or the Quad - but the extra $1000 has me perplexed ha. I’m fine getting the quad - but yeah. The Arc setup is kinda amazing (only hooked up the arc so far to see if dialogue is good enough. It seems to be fine but so many reviews say it’s poor. The surround effects with just the bar are really hard to stop gloating about. My traditional 5.1.2 setup doesn’t replicate sounds as good. That said - do you think the Sony would improve on that? Thanks in advance

Oke you convinced me 🙃 i want to hear this thing now. Still i think it's a little too expensive for me especially with the subwoofer. If Sonos releases a soundbar this year Sony will win because it probably has more spacious sound then a soundbar set up. For me it would be either of those brands i would buy. I like that Sony supports most audio codecs but the Sonos has better looks.

Another great comparison Daniel .. You have all the mass produced highly desired sound systems for comparisons which is the best thing.. I also own a HT A9 for 18 months like you .. I had no dropouts for a year then I moved one router closer and all hell broke loose until the firmware update fixed it and since then it has been smooth sailing .. I bought a 5 yr extended warranty with my A9 as it was a 1st gen product with lot of new tech and innovations so didn't know how reliable it will be so I will stick with my A9s for a while unless I get a really good deal on Quads .. $2k would have been more digestible price with A9s falling to $1500

If money is tight then the D … otherwise I much preferred the quad over the D.
