My favorite episode is Funhouse. Half of the episode is inside of Tony’s brain and it shows how paranoid he is, his secret love for Dr Melfi, Tony finally confronting Pussy by manipulating him to get on a boat while having food poisoning or if it was stressing on who was the real rat everything about that episode is gold.

Funhouse. The final shot, tony smoking the cigar then cut to the ocean waves, gives me chills to this day. It’s the duality of man, illustrated perfectly in 2 images… we first see tony, smoking a cigar in his mansion, celebrating his daughters graduation, surrounded by family and friends, the picture of success- but underneath, suffering the betrayal and loss of his lifelong friend, and unable to express his pain. He pushes it down. Cut to the ocean waves, a scene of natural beauty and power, hiding Tony’s dark secret underneath…..

Pour moi, the three best uses of music, amongst all the magic David Chase et al dredged up were- Bronze - this one. Silver - that sinister drumbeat which begun the start of the end for Tony, with the Bard of Salford - John Cooper-Clarke's - Evidently Chickentown. I am a Ken Leung fan. His character Leon on POI is what Carter accepting his crazy and trying to enjoy it looks like. Edie Falco murdered Whitecaps. She made the anger, disappointment, and sadness of 20 years of self-deception seem so real. I think James did his usual Tony bullshit, but Edie was brand new in that episode. If anyone still idolized Tony after Cold Cuts they missed the point of the whole show. The number of times he tried to destroy people for no other reason than to try to fill the black hole inside of himself and passed it off as some kind of strategy are too many, but this episode should have left no misunderstanding of who he really was. Not a strategic badass, just a scared little man.

I'd devour a video by you about the representation of /attitudes towards Asians in the show. I have an outline in my brain for the companion video about black people. I think about it all the time. i think the usage of non-italian stereotypes & characters helps create the idea of italian American identity by process of elimination(which, as I'm sure the writers intended to not to, is how Italians became "white" in this country)

Oh, that's a great suggestion! I'll always wonder what the final season of Peaky Blinders would've been like if Helen McCrory hadn't so sadly passed... Aunt Polly was such an integral part of that show.

@@Jimmy1982Playlists I think the plot lines that would have still happened are Christopher getting made, Tony's struggles with Ralphie, Melfi getting raped, The Russian, Tracee, Tony's Affair with Gloria, AJ getting expelled, Meadow's university life, and Jackie Junior fucking himself up, Junior's cancer fight, and a few others I left out. Those would have still happened while the center plot line would have been Tony trying to make up with his mother to prevent her from testifying against him.

Even though it's a controversial episode, I gotta go with Employee of the Month as my top episode. I enjoyed the few episodes where Tony takes a backseat to other characters.

No Pine Barrens, that is a gutsy call since most people think it might be the single greatest episode of television ever. For me it is between Pine Barrens and International Assassin from the Leftovers. Nothing else comes close. Good list as usual.

I like all these episodes, but about half of them are no where near my top 10. I do appreciate you including episodes that wouldn’t be in many people’s top 10’s. I also appreciate leaving out “Pine Barrens”. It’s a very good and unique installment, but the level of hype it gets from fans is a bit absurd. Right now, my top 10 would be: 1. Funhouse 2. Long Term Parking 3. Join The Club 4. College 5. The Second Coming 6. University 7. I Dream Of Jeannie Cusamano 8. Kennedy and Heidi 9. Whoever Did This 10. Sopranos Home Movies/Blue Comet/Unidentified Black Males But this show just has so many good ass episodes. It’s always difficult to whittle it down, and my list is always changing.

Great list. I just found your channel so I am working my way through all of your videos. The one episode that I would have included is Marco Polo. To me, that is the most comforting episode of the series. Love the family dynamic at Hugh’s party.
