I discovered this too with the noise cancelling earplugs I have. Walked around the house and found where all the dead spots are, just by listening. They're perfect for helping determine router placement! You can also pick up other signals too, like 2G/3G/4G/5G/Bluetooth, etc. I was having fun switching between the different networks on my phone and hearing how unique they sound from each other. BTW, I also learned that putting your phone into airplane mode stops data transfer, but your phone still emits a "beacon signal" every few seconds to advertise its existence. Thankfully the phone stopped emitting all signals when I shut it off, but from a privacy standpoint it's scary AF. @thatguy6858 yes they can. 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G; unshielded noise cancelling headphones can pick it all up.

You misremember. Analog cell phones don't make this noise because they constantly transmit at the same power, via FM. 2G GSM, TDMA (IS-136 D-AMPS) and iDEN were TDMA systems and they always burst power, making the buzzing noise. CDMA systems, including Qualcomm IS-95, WCDMA, LTE, and NR, constantly transmit, but do vary power somewhat, so the interference isn't as bad and it's not as noticeable, however it's not totally immune.

Here is something to know: Light and radio waves are essentialy the same thing just at different frequencies, light has more energy than radio waves which you think are dangerous. You are saying that light is bad for you with your logic. Global warming and climate change is what you should be woryying about. Climate change not only disrupts the habitat of wildlife, it is also damaging ours.
@FrasierLinde
4 жыл бұрын
@@dnb5661 It's not a simple matter of which carries more energy. By the principle of resonance, different parts of our bodies are sensitive to different frequencies. The wavelengths of visible light are in the nm range, close in scale to the rods and cones in our retinas that receive them. The wavelengths of wireless signals are in the cm range, as you can see by the size of a wifi or cell phone antenna. Think about what part(s) of your body might act as antenna(s).
