I thought it was fine. Any automatic assumption that any sponsored evaluation is rigged is unfortunate. More than once, explaining your position with your evaluation criteria was sufficient. Also, it didn't clash with other evaluations of this printer, which were all pretty positive.

I realize you need to produce videos people want to see. But there is a line in the sand somewhere between "I want to make content my viewers want to see." And " I'm afraid of saying a wrong word and suffering because of it." You make great content, trust that your viewers will let you know if you went too far one way or another. And then don't dwell on it much anyway. You got where you are trusting your gut, don't change THAT. There are too many haters and trolls just itching to rail anyone who accepts money and / or goods in order to make a living producing videos. Everybody's got to eat. Just be honest. That's all you need to do.

Pretty much came to the same conclusions! This thing is pretty impressive for the price once the profiles are dialed in (which I had to do in PS like you did in Orca haha). Only just discovered the other day that they've slapped a volcano style hotend into the SV07's hot end assembly this time - so it's got higher flow capability as well as the giant curtain fan to cool things faster.

I think you did a great job navigating the issue of sponsorship and you came across as completely honest to me. I especially like the on screen clarifications added after shooting (probably during the editing phase). This looks like a great first printer and as you mentioned they will be tweeking the sofrware more than the hardware, the opposite of my first printer experience in 2017 with the original CR-10. Which still prints great (and very slowly) to this day!

My sv06 plus (brand new never opened) had black filament left in the extruder from the factory. They test their extruders. Also I emailed them to cancel my sv07 because I decided on a sv06 plus instead (before the 7 arrived) and they cancelled it no questions asked. They also wanted me to give them some ideas on their next printer and asked what I liked in the sv06 over the 7. I responded and again, 48 hours later,they responded back again. They were awesome. They are on comment section on KZitem and other social media addressing issues and have made changes to already made machines before sending them out to customers. I bought a dual-head Zonestar kit six years ago as my first printer, and learned the frustration of manual bed leveling, slicer tweaks, cheap part failure, filament variables, etc. on it. Two days ago, after a week of cleaning, re-learning, and four successful prints, I fired it up to find the hot-bed no longer got hot, and had failed badly enough to melt the connections to the main board. Looking at the potential of spending $100-plus on a very dated printer, I started looking at options, and found the SV07. There are a handful of videos out here on this printer, and all of them have the same perspective - mine is now on order. You've done a fine job of discussing this printer, your assessment agrees with everyone else's I've seen/read, and you made full disclosure all the way through - I don't know how anyone could do better, and thank you for the effort.

Some questions: 1) What type heatbreak is used? CR10? Chemera? Proprietary? Is it bi-metal from the box? 2) What type of nozzle is used? Volcano? Proprietary? if proprietary - is it abrasive-resistant? Are there hardened and/or size options available? 3) What type of fans are cooling the model? 2x5015? Does the back fan only blows on the center of the print? 4) What's going on with the Z axis? Are the lead screws top-constrained? What problem do the nuts with springs solve? 5) Can someone please explain to me what do the wheels not do on Ender clones where the mass of the bed assembly bottlenecks the speed/accel before motion system?

I started my 3d printing with the Sovol SV01. I then upgraded the SV03, which is my current printer. Upgrades to the board and hotend were early changes. With the large size and sadly discontinuation of this model, getting replacement PEI sheets has been tough to source for the flexible build plate. I recently found some thin BR10 locally that should last me a long time. I love Sovol's price/performance. With only space for 1 printer, I don't see myself replacing it anytime soon. I would need something at least the same size for the occasional large prints I do while offering something I don't have or cannot add for a similar cost. If I do go Klipper, I'll probably do it with some Biqu parts to modify my SV03.

V-slots won't allow you super speed (it's a slinger anyway) but the do offer vibration dampening so less ghosting and less noise. Even if you run the wheels fast all the time and grind them those are still cheap to change. But hey I still would prefer linear rods if it was the same price because for hi quality and difficult materials you gotta go slow and rods are more precise.

However, it’s come time for some serious work and rather than spend the time making it print well again, I’d rather get something that “just works”. Bambu printers I like are about double the price so that’s why I’m asking.
@JohnCarter-vo8ux

My SV07 had some filament in the extruder, I think it's probably just standard QC. I've only had a few hardware problems, one of which was that the filament sensor is really unhappy with any curve in the filament when you load it- have to straighten it before inserting into the sensor, which isn't a big deal, just another thing to remember when loading. The other issue, which is more of a problem, has been that the adjustment eccentric for the roller on the bottom of the print head does not get tight enough. No matter where in the rotation I turn it to, it still has a little too much slop in it. Other than that, the print head is massive compared to my Ender 3 S1 Pro's sprite head- it does a fantastic job of cooling, and it's nice to have the lights on the head instead of on a light bar, but it's definitely showing a difference in how much correction is required in the input shaping vs the S1 with a sonic pad. The print quality is virtually identical, and it's almost half the price (I got the early preorder deal) of the S1 Pro and the add-on sonic pad, but I do assume I will have to be extra vigilant about keeping things tight as that's a lot of print head to slam around over time. Software-wise, the screen responsiveness you mention is only a problem for me when it doesn't respond quickly to an emergency stop command (also, turn off that confirm requirement, kids! Whoops!😂) I definitely agree with your overall assessments, it is a great printer and at the price point, it can't be beat. I have an X1 Carbon, the S1 Pro, two CR-10 Smarts, a RatRig V-Minion, an AnyCubic 4Max, and two Raise3D Pro3 units that are all in regular use between home and work, and I suspect I will be finding new homes for the 4Max and the RatRig to either add another SV07 or a P1P shortly. Since I added the Sonic pad to my S1 pro, I haven't used the V-Minion at all due to the small bed size.

Thank you for the sponsored video. done well. would like to know more SV06+ vs. SV07+. Specifically is the SV06 more beginner friendly / less buggy. The large print is a huge factor in my upgrade. Auto levelling was due for me after years with Ender3V2. Auto filament is an upgrade I needed. I am concerned if the filment could break between the huge distance from the sensor to the dual drivers. Since this will be my first SOVOL, how is the support - both in community and through the company. One AMZ review stated their device "caught fire" after 2 mo. Is this a real concern? Lastly, one option that Ive been holding out for in a budget printer is multi filament prints. Is this an option for under $1200. Thanks.

If you want multi filament, you will need to go with the Bambu lab A1 combo. I’ve had many Sovol machines and they are great. There is like 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance that I will even going to think about buying a bed slinger ever again! And no way, I am going to buy a Voron and mess around with all those things. So what will I then buy? Well, it will properly be the Bambu Lab P1S.... The new version with casing ect. I just want to PRINT! and not waisting my time with building from scratch again. Ender 3 Pro was a pure nightmare for me, and the Voron journey was to darn expensive! I would never trust anything you say, without reading or watching anyone else about the same product. I am to old, and have learned the hard way of what to do and not to do, when I buy new things. BUT! You do it really really good and in a really trustworthy way, People should learn to research on anything they don't know about BEFORE buying. That do will save them for many thrown-away of money. Just my point of view. Greeetings to ANYONE HERE! Hope your all good and safe.

I use Orca Slicer for all of my printers now I would suggest version 1.6.3 that has been released out of beta and it's awesome And you know I've been in Twitter land and saw how you were attacked by opinionated arm chair critics that know more than anybody else on the planet lol I'm personally not a big fan of Twitter due to the extreme political nature of the platform but every once and a while I'll dip my toes in that water just to see what kind of chaos is in the water Same old same old in there, KZitem is by far my favorite place to go for informative opinions and far less drama Keep up the good work brother, you're doing great And remember if you get static and haters that just means you are doing something right as opposed to pandering for acceptance in a world where if you don't agree you must be the devil To all the sinners and haters out there, I'll see you in Hell I'm the guy that will be at the gates welcoming you to the world of speed Benchys and political truth for all of eternity 😆

@The Next Layer there is nothing wrong with opinions We are supposed to disagree on certain things, that's what makes us all unique in our own way Imagine what a boring world we would live in if everybody agreed on everything If that was the case we would never progress and figure out new ways of doing things or innovation would be at the stand still I'm not necessarily the nicest guy out there and often speak my mind but I do very much take opposing views into consideration as I love to learn It makes me happy that my words bring you some relief We're not all assholes lol

I ordered it within minutes of preorder release and got it for $299. This will be my first 3D printer & didn’t want to spend $699 to $1,400 for the Bambu printer. I’m testing the 3D printing waters. I’m not looking for a slow printer and need something easy to use out of the box. I gave Sovol a chance based upon your experience and recommendations for the S06 and S06+. I can buy Creality printers off the shelf at Micro Center, but I feel they are not easy to use and are unreliable. Prussia is great but to overpriced for what you receive. The 3D printing industry has finally changed from tinkering to offering Fast and Reliable printing for the rest of us. I like to tinkering as much as next person. But I’m done now that life has gone back to normal.

SO - as a person who wants to get a 3D printer, who isn't too bad at putting things together, but isn't especially brilliant with electronics, mechanics etc, what would be a good 3D printer for me to start with? Some have suggested an Ender, (to learn the hard way?) others a Prusa or Prusa clone like the Sovol (to get used to something that works but can be made better?) or a Bambu Labs) for something that works from day 1 but may not be able to be fixed easily?) Anyone? 🤔

I really hope they apply what they learned here to their SV06 line in the future, maybe in a new SV06-like printer with Klipper capabilities and better hotend. Yeah this machine looks fine, but it's essentially an Ender-like, unlike the SV06 which was a Prusa-like. Rubber V rollers vs much more stable and longer lasting rod system. It's just iinherently inferior. Can't spin it any other way, it's objectively worse.

I totally agree with you. 5 years ago I also invested twice in cheap printers. But now there are better printers on the market and we should no longer settle for inferior products. "Beginner" here is just a synonym for cheaper models. Those who have problems with leveling or other technical challenges will have more problems with these cheaper models. Compared to Prusa models, where such problems are rare. Therefore, it is not right to say, "Here you have a beginner printer". Unless you have enough experience and knowledge to handle such models.

@@HarryPorpise I had expressed myself incorrectly. I think it's okay that there are inexpensive printers and I have nothing against them. But I think it's risky to promote them as entry-level devices. You do need experience and patience for these printers. Even in livestreams, I see people taking a long time to get the paper aligned properly, even though they've been printing for a long time. 😅

Depends. Some people have more important expenses (barely getting by on rent, students, saving for a baby coming soon), and should really not put a hobby above those things. Others aren't sure if they'll like the hobby, so why risk the money (my first printer was purchased on AliExpress for like $200 for this reason)... I think it's good to have options. Adam Smith approves :) Thanks for the comment

There's nothing wrong with using OpenBuilds style v-wheels on 3D printers. If the printer manufactures used the higher quality sealed bearing polycarbonate wheels, and people didn't over-tighten the eccentric spacers, the wheels would last for years. They are/have been used on CNC rigs for years. One mod for the SV07 might be replacing the v-wheels with the aforementioned sealed bearing PC v-wheels. The ultimate doom for Klipper based bed slingers is height. Physics will define that Klipper pressure advance and input shaping will not be very effective when printing tall prints at very high speeds. Also, the new Anycubic Kobra 2 uses hardened steel SG15 wheels on steel rods. You might want to provide viewers with a review of this printer, as presently you can buy one for $269 USD. It seems, the Kobra 2 creates excellent quality @ 150mm/sec and claims a max of 250mm/sec (and no--my comments are not sponsored). ; )

@louisboliou7432

@@thenextlayer The Kobra 2 runs on (as far as I know) Marlin 2.X. Supposedly, a near future Kobra 2 firmware update will include input shaping. I suppose aftermarket or mods will supply accelerometer support? I'm converting a few of my printers (including a massive Anycubic Predator delta) to Klipper via the inovato Quadro Linux pc. I'll be learning a lot about Klipper. I have an X1 Carbon with AMS, and just ordered a QIDI X-Max 3.

Good advice! I think I read somewhere on reddit concerns that metal v wheels may damage extrusion which is more expensive to replace compared to regular POM or PC ones. Not sure if that is an issue for the anycubic printer but PC wheels is probably a good idea (I was considering upgrading at one point)
