Herndon Stadium belonged to Morris Brown College until it went broke, hence the abandonment. Clark Atlanta University has a smaller stadium across the street which was also built for Olympic hockey then inherited the track from Centennial Olympic Stadium when that became Turner Field.

City with a great economy, which is a great thing because they have made some mistakes with their stadiums... Baseball Stadium was transitioned from being an Olympic stadium after 1996 Olympics, and then few years later was replaced with another Baseball Ball Park... And Mercedes Benz NFL stadium replaced the Georgia Dome which was in existence for only 25 or so years... Great video as always my friend!

The McCamish Pavilion had something strange that happened to it in 2008. It was the replacement of the SEC basketball tournament after the Georgia Dome was damaged by a tornado. It was also the first time since 1962 that any sort of SEC labeling was in that area.

Goodness the area around the Gas South Arena(formerly the Gwinnett Arena) has grown up big time since I went to high school in Lawrenceville. The performing arts center and arena were all that were there in 2012 besides two huge parking lots. For a while, it was ranked higher as a music/event venue for Atlanta than places like State Farm and the (insert company name) music ampitheaters around town.

Id like to throw in an honorable mention for the newly opened Gateway Center Arena in College Park. Designed for the Atlanta Dream (WNBA) it only holds about 3,500 people but it's state f the art quality and also backed by many of Atlanta's top black entertainers like 2chainz, Steve Harvey, etc. I attended the RedBull Sound Clash there last winter and had a much better experience with the venue there than at State Farm or Gas South. It gave MB Stadium quality vibes but at a much smaller level Also you didn't mention the Georgia World Congress Center. It's where they do Momocon and most of the Highschool Graduations out here. Not an arena or stadium per-say but it boasts a capacity of over 100k which I believe makes it the highest capacity venue in Atlanta maybe even GA as whole

I've never fully understood why the Braves wanted to have a stadium that's outside of the city that they're named for, especially when they were only in the stadium for just 20 years. Their fan-base is spread across the southeastern U.S., not just in Atlanta.

Great video but you missed the stadiums of Kennesaw State. And the Atlanta United sports complex stadiums. And Athens is part of Metrro Atlanta so all of the Georgia University stadiums/ arenas should be included as well as the stadiums and arenas of the University of West Georgia in Carrollton. Plus Rome, GA which is still technically metro Atlanta has a couple of stadiums. But the big ones are UGA and Kennesaw State. Metro ATL has a TON of stadiums!

As reflected in the comments, the problem with Atlanta is where do you define the limit of Atlanta? Is it the city limits? Then you couldn't include the Braves. How far into the suburbs do you go? You included Gas South Arena which is in metro Atlanta area (Gwinnett Co), but so is Cool Ray Field, home of the Gwinnett Stripers AAA baseball team. (I think it seats more than 10,000). You could have also included KSU's football field (5/3 Bank Field, I think) as well as Atlanta Motor Speedway (in Hampton but considered metro area). Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
@VisionStance

Cool Ray Stadium was Named after "Ray Fussell" He Started Cool Ray Heating and Air in Marietta Ga. One of the Oldest HVAC Company's in Atlanta. It is now owned by a Hedge Fund and has gone Corporate. The Name came after an Advertising Contract was awarded to Cool Ray.

Why so much emphasis on the high school stadiums? There are several dozen of those around Atlanta, I'd say. You also didn't mention: Coolray Field (Home of the AAA baseball, Gwinnett Stripers) Fifth Third Stadium (Home to Kennesaw State University Football and soccer, Atlanta United 2 soccer, and once a home of the Atlanta Blaze lacrosse team, as well as the Atlanta Beat, a women's professional soccer team.
