A week out from the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 attack on The United States, I feel that as if this is the most fitting post attack rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. It starts in a very solemn manner and ends with power and pride.

It's the 18th anniversary of 9/11 today. I didn't know I needed to hear this version today, until I heard it.

If anyone asks, the flag raised up the flagpole was the Stars and Stripes that had been recovered, unharmed, from the remains of Space Shuttle Challenger after its destruction. I was only a couple of weeks old when the Challenger was lost. To see two flags that survived two dark days in U.S. history together for the 2002 Winter Olympics opening ceremonies is something you never forget.

@@ErikButterworth pretty sure it’s actually confusion and amazement over the fact that the flags from 9/11 and the Challenger Disaster were in the opening ceremony for the Olympics. So don’t you dare insult his intelligence!
