Well you know what I’m going to say. It took me a year to get 100 subs and I’d argue “Healthy Software Development” is even more niche than the business of software. Totally understand y’all gotta do what you gotta do. I will just say if I based my decision to continue on the current trajectory of views and subs I would have quit years ago. Remember the algorithm has not connected you with your tribe yet. When it does, all it takes is a single video popping to bring in a ton of people. With that being said, I know how hard it is to keep making content and feeling like nobody cares. I support whatever you guys want to do. Just want to encourage you that you’re doing exactly what it takes - it’s just hard!

Thanks Jamie, We really appreciate it. It is hard indeed. But hopefully, we can find the right set of adjustments to make that will improve the leverage on the work we put in

You guys have a nice core subject that you can keep and explore broadening the scope of subjects to reach a wider audience. I myself would really like to see more content about software design and architecture and to hear what you guys from a more functional perspective have to say about that.

Hey Ody & Biz, I'm a pretty new subscriber and I've definitely enjoyed several of your talks. It would be interesting to hear some of the struggles you've had both as when you were an up and coming devs, and as black men in the development community. Also, I wouldn't discount things that surround development as not tech enough for this channel, I think it could be really important to bring more human relational content up in the context of the tech community, as there are probably lots people have to say in our industry specifically on this. Perhaps even a small series of what its like for people from different countries entering into the community, getting their first jobs, moving to a new country etc. Or discussions on whether to contract or remain an FTE, what the expectation looks like vs. reality, etc. Even the challenges starting your own company (you could bring guests like John Degoes back for this one) - looks like there is a video out there for this 👀 Lots of ideas out there that I really think no one has done justice to. Sometimes when you run out of ideas, the best thing to do is find out what others have to say. It might then spark some other topics you didn't think of before. And don't worry about what this channel is in your mind, just make what you want. Lots of channels have started off doing something completely different to where they ended up. Putting a box around your ideas is probably not conducive to success at this point, let the channel develop, iterate and see what boundaries form. You know, Agile :) Anyway, whether you continue with this channel or not, thank you for your efforts, and the contributions you having given the community. I'll go back and catch up on the videos I haven't seen!

Thanks @polariss0i for the feedback. I think this is something we will definitely take into consideration and you are right, The best thing to do is find out what others have to say and your feedback is enlightening. Thank you

Based on the views and engagement, a great deal of value this channel brings is discussing "the business value of software engineering" with industry people whom we viewers have no access to (Scott Wlaschin, Don Syme, John De Goes), so leaning into that more might be a way to reach more viewers an already sparse niche. Also I'm not an expert in marketing or "The Algorithm", but establishing a funnel with clips on other social platforms might be helpful. All in all, I enjoy your content and it has definitely added value to my career. Thank you for the insights and funny moments, especially while Scott is a little intoxicated... Godspeed.

Thanks @locker47 One of the things we've had difficulty with is that both of us are actively working full time jobs in the industry and as such we spend so much of our spare time planning, shooting and editing a single video. That it's really difficult doing the same for shorts as well. That said, I think we really need to consider this. And probably reduce our video frequency to accommodate it. You are right, Shorts play a critical role in reaching viewers

You guys are good interviewers because you bring up relevant points based on your own expertise that most other interviewers wouldn't even think about. So keep doing interviews for sure. It might be worth experimenting more with different formats if you are finding it hard to pick engaging topics to talk about long-form. Maybe try some shorter more focused content? Or, maybe try something more pedagogical (if that sounds fun or worth the effort)? By pedagogical I mean something specifically designed to teach people in a structured way about technology and business. I just think the people interested in this channel are mostly interested in learning (for me it was about F#). I think its good that you guys are trying to expand your reach, and if you keep experimenting you might find a good formula.

Misc ideas: - (Continue) doing interviews and having guests on (they don't need to be famous). - Technology or programming tutorials (F#, DotNet, Databases, whatever). Maybe this could be something one of you does, or you could alternate. I think these do well because they are sharable and people looking up programming stuff on KZitem are here to learn specifics. - Answering viewer questions, maybe once a week or once every few weeks. - Short form content (20 minutes tops) on just one concept / lesson. Edit out the rambling bits, but otherwise similar format. - Showing off projects either of you are working on. Talking about the design process and reviewing your code.

Found your channel from the Don syms interview. I liked your content but it is generally too long compared to other content on similar topics and the pacing is typically a bit slow as well. Both of you obviously have great experience in the industry and it’s hard to find where your specific knowledge can provide value to others. All the best with the new content I hope it works out for you 👍👍

Thanks @ZeonX69 for this feedback, We noticed it too! We definitely need to make adjustments to the pacing and the length. I think a 40min video is a huge commitment and keeping the viewer engaged through it, is quite difficult

I love you guys, please don't stop making videos!! I really enjoyed the reaction video you had. Would also be cool to have videos on how to migrate from something like Python to F#. And how to take Imperative code and turn it in to FP and show what kind of benefits one would get. I just showed a Python/C++ friend active patterns in F# and he was really intrigued. Also maybe how to combine FP with Objects? These are just some ideas.
