It's funny how he takes a good look at his buddies every go-round, I wonder what he's thinking, "hey look at me I'm a big horse, lunging y'all". With all that go, Barrels bound? Be good for his daddy, and Alan, if he became a competitive performance horse of some kind?

I would love to hear Kixs thought ☺️🤣 and yes I agree! Barrel prospect for sure! Anything competitive performance horse I am sure Kixs will excel! ☺️

I buy all my horses as a foal. Rise them like they was a baby kitty or puppy. Get no pain. My horses trusted me. After some them I sold at 2 years old not break. The people tell me they got on them they rode GREAT. I've all kinds of HORSES. THE BEST WAS A MORGAN STAR SHE WAS MY BABY

Thanks for the tip about the head tossing, my mare likes to toss her head on the lunge line, she will no longer get away with it, I saw how you corrected him and I will use the same technique, great video! Thanks 😊

Oh yes! Happy this could help - the head tossing I try to ignore until I notice it is becoming a habit - best of luck with your mare ☺️🙌

Hi again AMRY So before you really got into it by listening to your words and watching your actions it's been confirmation to me what I suspected how the colts and others trained by you finish to be such awesome horses. You believe in and train/teach Respect! The kinda of respect that's to work both ways. Not pressured or forced but expected in a calm confident way that is aware of and concerned for how the horse is acting what he is thinking and how he responds to you. No yelling no abuse no yahoo but a smart relationship between you two. So refreshing to see how they work for you because they want to not because they have to... How you make me smile! That is a special relationship like no other. Yes some are smarter and easier to work with but when you have a smart one with the want to and try also it's just the coolest and most wonderful and satisfying thing ever. So clearly you explain your 4 step lunging method and the hows and whys of the importance of each. All goes back to building that important foundation. Sounds quite familiar how us humans are supposed to build on and live our lives! Continue learning but hold tightly to your ways and techiques regardless of any negativity thrown your way. You are truly a star in the making!! Thx as always for sharing and making me smile once again. Am a been there done that kind of gal that greatly appreciates you understanding the patience time and commitment it takes but mostly the love in your bones and the passion in your heart for horses. Will catcha next time. Keep on keepin on...

GREAT topic, explanation, presentation. Kix is sooo smart....and has that colt feisty. Such an AMAZING job of training proper. Mucho kudos to Amry, CNA Horses and the Farm on Route 66. Also thanks to Chubs and the little white kitty for help in desensitizing drills. 🙂

I like the way you're breaking it up in small pieces. It's human nature to want things done instantly. I'm no different but I do understand the process has to be done. yesterday was "the moving the front quarters" section part of teaching my horse to lunge. Today all pieces should come together. wish us luck 👌

❤🎉 Wow very good gaining respect of Kix and teaching him the ropes heh heh pun intended. Would be great to see you starting with the JHeart baby's first steps but if that's not the one fitting into your schedule any baby will be ok lol. 😊 Since the bloodlines from Alan and Jerry are pretty well established I think it might be interesting to see if there are notable similarities and differences working between the two babies. Or if it's totally irrelevant. 🤔😊😁 Thanks for your videos. ❤😊🤠🐎🥰⭐🕊️🤗

You bring up a great point! Bloodlines - I love knowing bloodlines. I will be very interesting to compare all the different babies this year. Might make a fun video to show the differences between each colt. I will be working with colts from Pitzers, JHeart, The Farm on Route 66, and Memory Ranch this year - giving me lots to compare ☺️🙌

This video is sooo helpful! I'm getting my first mare and wanted to start the groundwork off right and this helped so much. How do you get them to do a downward transition on the circle without turning in (i.e., from canter to trot)?

At what age would say horses are ready to go under saddle and take a rider? I’ve heard several answers to this. Anywhere from 3 years old to 5. I’d like to know what you think is a safe age ? Thanks !
@cnahorses

My preference is to do as much ground work as possible while a horse is born until 2 years old. In between the ground work we like to turn them out to pasture to rest and just be a horse - they love it! The summer of their 2 year old year we put a few (maybe 10) rides on them - then they get to be turned out in a huge pasture and be a horse. When they are 3 years old we start more consistent riding. Of course everyone has their opinions but I think as long as you go as slow and correct as possible you can work horses young that last a long time. We have lots of older SOUND horses that were started as 2 year olds.
