Protecting your capital is much more important than making money. Basically because if you lose your capital, making money is much harder. ''Missing the train'' vs. ''losing your money''. There are a lot of trains, but if your money is gone, it's over. This is for stock holders.

Unfortunately, most people don't get this, the majority is after chasing tops/bottoms where they fail & get out of the game. Therefore, in the current bear market, we should pay more attention to the risk rate of the market. We must control the risk to a minimum and improve earnings. It is best not to blindly enter the market.

To all new investors: Just don't panic and enjoy buying great companies at a better price. You most likely have years of investing ahead of you and I guarantee you won't even remember this dip. If you're new, you don't even have much to lose, so just don't worry and DCA.

quarterly expiration. Options control the market, and there's a massive expiration on the 20th, so expect unwinding through the 17th. This is why it 'happens every year'. I don't know what caused this before the 80s, but I know options have supplanted whatever that cause was.

Hi Joseph, During my tenure in a Fortune 100 company, I found 7 people dead at their desk. So, this is not new. Also, I witnessed a person disappear from his cubicle for a year with the company paying him before they found out. Hear a lot, seen a lot, and have been through a lot. Best wishes. We are not changing anything in our portfolio. Today, our portfolio has lost 0.3%. Quality companies prevail in the long-term term.

Regarding the Deadlift ETF I think as the creator mentioned it was a naming convention about the CEOs being physically active not that they actually perform the deadlift exercise. Sure you can say this is mostly correlation and causation, but as someone who works out and is surrounded by similar individuals, the comittment to personal excellence and keeping in shape is not a factor I would discount as purely correlation. There is probably a small factor there that is somewhat statistically signficant in it's carryover to how the CEOs run their companies and the culture they try to perpetuate.

Joseph, regarding the WF story....you're right it was 4 days but she clocked in on Friday and someone discovered her Monday. Normally, people don't work weekends. I'm surprised a cleaning crew / maintenance didn't find her. So actually being found Monday wouldn't be too much out of the ordinary considering the circumstances. I absolutely believe it. I worked at Wells Fargo in the CIC building in Charlotte North Carolina. The buildings are towns. The idea is you don’t have to go anywhere for your Starbucks, your hair cuts, dry cleaning, Chick-fil-A, Taco Bell all in the food court. They lay people off, but they have the real estate so you can have floors with just 30 people spread out in these massive buildings.

It's interesting to hear about Costco raising their membership fees again. I've definitely noticed the crowds getting bigger at my local store, even on weekdays. It's great to see that they're still doing so well despite the price increase. Personally, I recently downgraded from the Executive membership to the basic Gold Star. I just wasn't getting enough value out of the 2% cashback to justify the higher cost, especially with so many other options available these days (like Amazon). I'll see how it goes for the next year or so, but for now, the basic membership seems like the better fit for my shopping habits.

I don't see it as big of a deal that the woman wasn't found for 4 days. Firstly, two of those days were the weekend, so obviously there isn't much foot traffic in the office and why would somebody be checking every office on the weekend? Second, it actually shows that companies aren't standing over you like big brother. You actually get personal space. I'd rather work at a company where I get independence over when where somebody is constantly breathing over my shoulder. The sad part is that no friends or family raised any alarm, I don't think the problem is with the company

Sept. weakness is also a tax receipt issue. As Doug at AppliedMMT has pointed out, taxes delete dollars out of the economy, leaving it up to other institutions to create more dollars. All else equal, fewer dollars available means fewer dollars to bid up asset prices.

I wouldnt count on any kind of strategy here. Some month has to be the worst. Still up 55% of time in last 99 yrs. I hear what u r saying but not sure of the impact strength. Flip coins and u will have some weird outcomes. Still need more data imo. Also most of the negative is concentrated in a handful of septembers in those yrs. Also the mkt goes up different amts each yr... not the avg. Bull yrs have big gains a lot..not avg...not 10-12%. That is just an avg over time not yr by yr. Ok back to September.... Even if sept is supposedly bad...why is it up 55% of time over last 99 yrs? Yes it is a net negative over L99 yrs...but if u ditch 6 of those 99 it is positive...so concentrated rough yrs there. If everyone starts thinkin sept will suck then it wont be as powerful anymore. Today seems to be a big statement and seems to confirm this sept effect but let's see what happens when sept closes. There is other stuff tanking mkt today like tech and manufacturing data.
