I suffer from depression also ...The music of Big Country in fact saved my life and gave me the courage to go on, Stuart used to always say "Stay Alive" which gave me hope....My heart was grief stricken when i learned he had taken his life............But i know that Stuart wanted to help others, it was his core value, as well as the rest of the Band...........I continue because Big Country as a whole gave me hope and courage....................

Why, oh why did a talent like Stuart have to leave us the way he did? U2 could only ever aspire to be like he and his band were. The talent that that man had and his ability to do what he could with a guitar will never be seen again. He and his band were real musicians, something that is sadly lacking in the times we live in now. Stuart, where ever you are, you are sadly missed, but your legacy will live on forever....

I was mesmerized by their music for decades-still am. Their music always has a Story to tell-an Epic one. The crossing evoked early Arctic and Antarctic Exploration by the Brits. Steeltown evoked the post WW I rise of Germany and the naive enthusiasm of the rebuilding of their military, invasion of Russia, and ultimate Downfall and reflection upon the events that led to it. The Seer brings to mind Rob Roy and also Cromwell, as well as the two wars Britain fought in North America. I could go on and on 😇

+Joshua Hugo -Fields of Fire makes me think of Waterloo and the "Box" formations of riflemen that defeated Napoleon's cavalry which charged those. The Song "Big Country?" Well I think that's about America 🇺🇸👍. But what's great is as one person wrote, the music seems written for the Individual Listener to put their own meaning to it. Growing up by the sea like Stuart, Tall Ships Go is very personal, as I got to see the 1976 American Bicentennial Tall Ships Fleet in New York Harbor-what a sight! Ships from around the world. The Portuguese ship was owned by the family of a friend of my mother's who was from an old well today Portuguese family. There's always been a huge population of Portugese-at home on the water-all about the Massachusetts shore towns of Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, New Bedford, Gloucester, Fall River down Rhode Island). This woman's husband was a Benz-heir to Mercedes Benz. The ship was lost, all hands in Bermuda Triangle-the "Amerigo Vespucci" I believe

+Joshua Hugo Fortunately the owners were not sailing on it then. It was a huge ship! Freak storm came up on a calm and routine trip of 2-3 days-so "Tall Ships Go" hits me a bit. If you saw that Tall Ship's size you'd not believe it could just disappear-but it did. I know Stuart's Dad was a Fisherman so he and his family and community knew about "Men who go down to the Sea in ships."
